"Fun With Chemistry" has very little to do with chemistry, but still ending up being a fairly entertaining episode of Breakout Kings, by A&E standards at least. The show needs to work on its uniqueness, because right now all of the episodes run together. But if a solid procedural is what they are going for then A&E has nailed it and hopefully they give this show a second season, something few scripted series have gotten from the network.

A fun little storyline here, and some nice interoffice relationship drama, but still far from being great is the show that is called Breakout Kings. I expected more tonight, but what I got was more of the same.moreless

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • "Candy glass" was used to make the clock that Mars smashed at the mansion. Twelve pieces of this easily breakable glass was made for the clock and was replaced for each take.

    • A home in Toronto's Humber Valley was used for the mansion. The Special Effects Department installed a plaster rig on the ceiling to simulate the bullet from Mars' shotgun hitting the ceiling when he was tackled by Charlie. A small avalanche of plaster and dust would fall to the floor each take on cue.

    • Some of the footage from Starla Rowland's house was re-shot months after the original shoot date. Since winter had set in during the re-shoot, visible snow was melted and washed away from the road and lawn to keep continuity with previous shots.

    • To simulate blood oozing from the knife wound when Mars killed his mother at the Wallkill Correctional Facility, he held a "blood sponge" in his hand. The sponge was soaked with blood that Mars squeezed.
