The fifth episode of Breakout Kings is pretty much like the first four: a solid procedural that may have a different backdrop, but is really the same as anything you will see on CBS. The prison dialogue is probably the highlight of this episode for me and the others before it. That is where the show does shine in my eyes as having the people behind Prison Break doing this show is definitely helping out.

Breakout Kings was good fun tonight though. A nice standoff in the end, and the stopping of the suicide was well-choreographed. I am not hating on this show, I would say that I have enjoyed it for the most part so far, I just know that it can be better.moreless

    • Turro's Pizza and Tap and Maybelle Minimum Security Prison are specially built sets housed next to each other at Pinewood Studios, Toronto.

    • The Maybelle Minimum Security Prison and Turro's Pizza and Tap are sets built and housed side-by-side at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Production Designer Tamara Deverell designed Maybelle to be a multi-purpose set that could be redressed as a variety of prisons. Turro's was designed to fit within the context of an existing building that was selected for the location's exterior which resulted in the unique trapezoid shape. Every aspect of this small set is either movable or removable.

    • The scene where the wall of the trailer was ripped away was done in just one take due to its complexity. The Special Effects Department built a wall within a wall of the trailer and stabilized the structure so when the outer steel-welded wall was torn off, the trailer wouldn't collapse.

    • The white t-shirt that Erica wears in this episode was designed by Vanessa Goodwin, Malcolm Goodwin's wife. Vanessa and Malcolm started their clothing design business, Goodness Boutique, in 2009.
