Brenner is a street hardened twenty year veteran cop with the New York City Police Department who now works in the Internal Affairs section known as The Confidential Squad. His son Ernie is an idealistic rookie beat officer. Together they face crime as well as police corruption and all it's ugliness and try to learn from their different views of life, death, and work.
25 episodes and one spinoff pilot were shot between 1959 and 1960, though only fifteen were shown during that first season and re-run during the summers of 1961-1963.
In 1964, the last ten episodes and spinoff were shown, confusing some into thinking that the network had brought back the show. But the copyright dates on all 26 episodes are either 1959 or 1960, proving that the 1964 "season" was just using up what was left over.moreless
