  • Might be the best episode in the series so far.

The confrontation with one of the main antagonists in this season, Asmodeus, commences, and it doesn't go as smoothly as planned which makes this episode even more exciting. The death of Mingo and Gousim were pretty effective and sad. Although the episode merely covers their deaths, that alone really intensified the effect. So far it looked like a cartoon where none of the good guys die, but this episode shows that no victory is without its sacrifices. At the same time it allowed some great character development for Matthias; how he handled the situation really showed some great leadership, and the way he commanded the shrews really showed how far he has come to become a hero.moreless
  • Great episode.

This episode was one of the best episodes of the first season. The battle between Matthias and Asmodeus the serpent was always one of the better fight sequences in the series. However it was sad to see Mingo and Gousim get killed by the snake but it gave Matthias a much needed character development. Matthias grew much in strength and bravery travelling down into the endless tunnles of the snakes hole and how he got the sword in the end was great. This episode got almost a perfect score except for a few flaws that this episode had. All in all a great epidode that most of the redwall fans and advid fans should enjoy. I must say that I really enjoyed watching this episode and that it really was not a disappointment in the end since it is one of the final pieces of the complex puzzle of season 1.moreless
