While Cluny plans to recapture the tapestry by burning down the abbey gates, Matthias determines to renew his search for Martin's sword but does not know where its keeper, Asmodeus hides. He learns that only the fierce mouse-eating owl, Captain Snow, knows where he is. To ask him Matthias has to pass the gigantic marmalade cat, Squire Julian Gingivere, and the Shrews of Mossflower Wood! Matthias breaks off the search for the sword to return with his new allies to once again beat off Cluny.moreless
  • The owl places himself on a bet when he has nothing to gain and everything to lose, nice.

Once again another solid episode of Redwall that is packed with content but has some trouble with pacing issues. It's been like this for seven episodes so it's not like it's gonna change for the remaining six of this season, but sometimes you'd wish that by some miracle, this problem would be fixed. Nevertheless, I liked how this episode wasn't so black and white. Although Redwall looked like it was going to crumble with the absence of Matthias, Constance still found a way to battle off Cluny and his army; Matthias did help them win the battle, but he was there to clean up and ward off the remaining rats. What really bothered me about this episode is Captain Snow and his decision to go about betting against himself. Just to prove if a mouse could kill a snake?moreless
