Henry Bromell wrote some of the best Homicide:LOTS stories, including The Gas Man, my favorite Homicide ep. But he badly missed on this one--Brotherhood is notorious for lacking the humor of HBO's The Wire and The Sopranos, and this episode seems like a failed attempt to counter that. And the plot holes! The ridiculous meal preparation stuff (arguing over mashing potatoes; threee cans of cranberry sauce is not enough for 10 people; and so on) is distracting. But furlowing prisoners to spend a quiet holiday in a lake house with just ankle bracelets (which we learn can easily be cut off) is just plain ludicrous.

Brotherhood is often praised for its realism, but this episode is just plain stupid. A turkey of an episode in an otherwise good series.moreless
