It's been a long time since I watched this show. I looked forward to it all the time during the first two seasons, caught only a few episodes during the third season, and stayed away from season 4 until now. The show is missing the old magic. Sally Field is as good as ever...but a few of the actors are dead weight. Balthazar Getty needs to be written off completely. Calista's talent was squandered in this episode. Holly's subplot of losing a new job to her daughter was silly and done in a matter of minutes. Is this their idea of writing for Patricia Wettig? Please. The scenes with Paige recording the family on camera seemed contrived and insincere. At least Ron Rifkin tried, but the others were going through the motions, b.s.-ing their way through it. The only scenes I really liked were the ones when Sally Field's Nora met the original designer of Ojai and when she and Sarah found a set of blueprints on a house that William was going to build. Scotty singing at the end was a nice touch but the rest of the episode left much to be desired and was basically filler, to get to the season finale next week. These people get paid too much to put out such a mediocre episode. Disappointing.moreless
  • Ending and new beginnings..

    9.0
I liked this episode. How Sarah was frustrated to have to let go of everything their family's treasure, their legacy. It was touching, especially in the end when Scotty started singing. Good one, good one.

Too bad Rob Lowe decided to leave. It's an ensembled cast and he wanted the spotlight to himself. He had 2 cancelled shows before this one, so I think he should've been a bit more conscious of his success while as a leading man.. oh well.. luckly, there's plenty of people to carry on the show.

I consider the show to be centered on Norah and Sarah at the moment. Kitty has a good amount of time but after Robert leaves for some reason, she'll have much less screen time, since everyone else has pairs.

Another thing.. the writers never took the time to try developing Sul's character. He barely has any live outside of Ojai or his nephews.

I've also thought some miracle would happen and Ojai wouldn't be sold. Good. Saving the company with something out of the blue would be a story killer.

Brothers & sisters, one of the best family shows around.

    Cheers!moreless
  • absolutely amazing

    10
another brilliant episodes of brothers & sisters and one of the best of the season easily. last week's episode was fun and quirky, but pretty uneventful. this week was back to the good stuff by bringing the entire cast together to bid good-bye to ojai foods. the last few images with everyone sitting in the room, drinking wine, and then the closing of the lights as scotty sang were amazing. it makes me wonder what's going to happen next season since ojai has been a source of major drama over every season. i thought maybe some miraculous wave would come and save it, but it didn't, which is what made it dramatic, great, and still very sad. ojai itself was like one of the walkers and we say good-bye now unfortunately. the promo for next week looks amazing! we already know which character is hitting the hay, but i'm excited to see how it all plays out. also DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing many of the season's major storylines finally coming together: justin and rebecca and them as a couple and whether or not they go to haiti/stay in california or seperate, NARROW FREAKING LAKE! (of which we FINALLY! got some steps closer to discovering; that moment, esp. when sara said 'it's more than a house. it's a love letter. dad really loved you mom' was wonderful; now we just have to see what's good about it financially), kevin's accident, luc-sara as a couple, and kitty's campaign. very excited!moreless
  • Its the end of an era.....

    9.5
In this episode of Brothers and Sisters, the following happens. We open with the knowledge that in a week Ojai foods will be closing. We also see Paige making a documentary about Ojai foods and her family.

Everything in this episode revolves around Ojai closing, and the memories it holds for everyone. We see everyone together at the end of the episode sitting in one of the offices drinking to Ojai. As Scotty begins to sing, we see all of the lights going out in Ojai, for the last time. A very emotion packed episode, which brought with it the end of an era.moreless
