  • Brothers and Sisters, while it has it\'s small pg-13 moments, is a great family drama. Based on the lives of an seemingly perfect, normal, American Walker family, the show portrays excellently the interactions of a VERY diverse family.

I classified this show as a trendsetter, but it is also a personal favorite. At first, I was hesitant as to even take the time to watch the first episode, but I took the plunge since I was already on the channel and watching Desperate Housewives. To be honest, I wasn\'t impressed, but I kept watching- there was something about it that I didn\'t want to give up on. There was all this potential- a family that I could possibly care about, contemporary, important issues, and a nice blend of drama with well-timed comedic moments. Finally, the last couple of week\'s episodes delivered on all this potential. The show finally confronted many of the issues it had kept under the surface, as many present shows don\'t, making it a trendsetter. For example, last week, the show realistically explored the relationship between Scotty(a nice character when he shows vulnerability) and the lawyer son. The druggie son has also been developed more than I expected, finally showing his benevolent, instead of self-absorbed side. Then there is the dynamic between Kitty and her mother, which I like because they fight over real issues and differences. The show also confront the dark side of the family, showing the family business scandal, and the affair the husband had for years before his surprise death in one of the first episodes.

Overall, I give this show a perfect score for honestly portraying American life, and issues- once it began getting over the stereotypes.
  • It's not quite Grey's Anatomy but give it time!

Ok, I don't think it will replace my beloved Anatomy in my favorites category, but it has remarkable potential. Yes, it does need a bit of tweaking. The storylines a running a bit wild, but I think once they have their feet on solid ground, they will be hitting it out of the ballpark!

This show has one of the best casts on television today!! I loved Ally McBeal when it was first on, Calista Flockhart is the perfect annoying political journalist we love to hate, her mother....none other than Sally Field...the know it all, die hard Democrat...Fabulous!! And, the lovely Rachel Griffiths from Six Feet Under is PERFECT!!!

This is the type of family that from the outside looks perfect, but once you step in; you're not quite sure you want to be there, similar to virtually everyone's family experience during the holidays!

This show is a veru good show i have to tyape it cause it\'s on so late so i watch it on Mondays when i get hoem from school. i liked this ep. They showed a little more then what was needed though it was still good. I thik Justins charcter will turn out to be all right after all and i think he\'ll make up with Tommy because Tommy will probably see that he was wrong. One of the things that was not needed was when Kevin kissed that other guy. I know that some people are guy i\'m not saying that\'s wrog i\'m just saying that they musted not have liked doing it very much. Something eles that i don\'t think should have happened was one Kitty and Johnathan broke up. Now i\'m hopping that Kitty and Warren will start dating, because they really should. Something eles i thought was nor really needed was that needle thing with Pagie but agian that is also reel life stuf so i guees it works sinice this is a drama, and dramas feeted reel life stuff. Overall this ep. was preatty good i think it\'s mabye a eight or seven out of ten.
  • The long and short story lines are awsome! There's tons of DRAMA and FUNNY in this one! The cast is out of this world. Sally Field as Mom is the best cast actress I've seen on TV in years! It really reflects the types of trials today's families go thru.

It's nice to see a network show that combines all the little tid-bits of what families that stay together go through today. All families have secrets and this one has big ones - but they get through it, as a family. It's refreshing to see. Aside of the drama, the humor in this is fabulous! The wit and sarcasm matches only that of Boston Legal. It's a great emotional roller-coaster ride that lasts a whole 60 minutes; one minute your laughing, then concerned, then sad, then happy, and your laughing again! It definitely has to stay!
  • Kitty is in a romantic triangle, Justin is doing drugs, Sarah is having trouble at home and her kid is sick, and Kevin would rather do anything than escort his mom every where.

The first show seemed slow and I was hesitant to give it another try but after I did, the show seemed pretty good. Besides Kitty (Calista), who is one of my favorite tv actresses, the best story line seems to be Kevin, (the gay brother), who is very charming, talented, and interesting. I hope the studio gives him a more intriguing story line. A great love would be interesting, that way we could see his talented range rather than babysitting his mom! In my final thought, I\'d say that ABC may have something with this show. It was a great idea to place it after Desperate Housewives, one of my favorite shows on TV.
  • Brothers and Sisters!!! A rarity among tv.

Just fantastic! A classic drama of a "real" family. You feel part of them already. I am the oldest of seven, so trust me...the interaction & storylines between them ring home everytime. We have "lived" and continue to live many of them. The connections between them is something everyone in a large family can associate with. Sally Field and Calista Flockhart drew me to the show and are both professional jewels. Great to see both of them. The acting is top-notch. The rest of the cast is more than "just" supportive and will hold their own. A keeper! One of the best new shows.
  • Hoping and praying that the show is a hit!

I am hoping and praying that the show is a hit and that it really has a great ensamble cast led by Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, and the irreplacable Sally Field. As Calista is a talk show host who comes home to find work as well as settle with her not so perfect and flawful family. In hopes of mending fences and working together. Here's hoping and praying for a hit!
  • Excellent show!

I loved this show since the first episode, I think it's like "Six feet Under" made for public TV, (I really like Six Feet Under). All the characters are great and complex, the stories and their relationship is very credible. The story begins before the father, the head of the family, dies in front of his granddaughter, you see a big family who owns a company and is having financial problems; the siblings will have to cope with their father's death, with the problems with the company and problems in their personal lives. The show is made in a way where you care about all the characters and makes you want to know more about them... This show is definetly on my Top 5 this season.
  • Brothers and Sisters.....is honestly a guilty pleasure of mine! But don't tell anyone i said that.

This show is funny and informative!

Plus its definitely not your normal suburban family. Added to this fact, its no '7th Heaven'! That's for sure.

But the show sticks to the core of reality.

It protrays a family, like most American families, who are so often torn apart due to unfaithfulness.

It shows the struggles most large families face; that is, sticking together no matter how nosy another family member may get.

It also proves the point that the 'apple doesn't fall far from the tree'...in the episode 'Affairs of State'.

Here is where, Kitty, following in her father's footstep, had an affair.

Nevertheless, this show is very informative; it has an excellent cast and the writing is superb.

Therefore, a very bright future is predicted ahead!
  • this show is pretty good except its kind of unoriginal.

    "Superb"
i love the this show except i think the were very unoriginal when it comes to the father because he was exactly like caleb nichol from the o.c. they both die the same way and dont have anymore money left in the company they own and they both had an affair and the daughter ( im not sure of her name) is like kirsten cohen in the way that she is married and wants to make her marraige work but has found comfort in another guy but other than that its a very good show and i absolutely love callista flockheart.
  • There have only been 2 episodes, but I am already in love with this show! I do agree that it is in need of some work. I'm not completely buying Dave Annable's Justin character yet, but Sally Fields and Rachel Griffiths are perfect!

    "Superb"
As soon as I sat down to watch this show, I was in love. I come from a family of 7 children and love that this show is about a big family. I am still getting used to Callista Flockhart in a mostly serious role, but I think the show will do fine if the main concentration isn't always on her. I love the relationship between Rachel Griffiths' character and Michael Beach's character. I look forward to seeing that relationship develop, and to see how it affects her relationship with her husband. Sally Fields (Nora) is perfect as the matriarch of the Walker family. I love that she and Callista Flockhart (Kitty) have a love-hate relationship. I have high hope for this show. Let's hope that the ratings are sustainable and that the show is not cancelled within it's first year!
  • The great cast comes with great expectations. In time, connections with the lives of the characters will grow deeper.

    "Good"
The all-star cast and writing is undeniable but it starts off very heavy on the drama and trauma while barely getting to know the characters. It's like starting a show mid-to-late season and expecting you to care or be attached to the characters. The premise of the show also implies that all of this could be normalcy for the American family. I am sure as the season progresses, viewers will get more engaged. It's a refresher for those who are tuning in to get their fill of the TV veterans. And even moreso, it's a great filler for those who want to sink in and maybe shed a tear on a Sunday night now that Grey's Anatomy has changed nights.
  • LOVED IT !!!!

I personally believe that a show that can make you cry is a good one. I have teared up both times I have watched this show. I find it very believeable and also adore the cast. They flow well togehter. I have always adored Sally Field, she can just take you to where she is and make you feel the same emotions. I was also a huge Alley McBeal fan so I may be a little one sided on this issue. I loved the depiction of this perfect family filled with flaws and differences just like any other family.

I hesitate to write a review of this show because I know it's one of those you have to get into but there's something wrong. I don't know what it is, is has all the elements: good cast, acceptable story lines, watchable characters, but it's not right somehow. I don't mean it's bad, it just not right somehow.

I know they had to pick a starting place, all these "slice of life" dramas do, but I think they started to far up. Having Tom Skerritt's (Dad) die in the first episode and rushing though the drama of so many characters, it's like it's already in the second season and we don't yet care about these characters.

It's like they writers are saying, "These are the kinds of things that happen in the life of a family, just take it as read and we'll get to the good stuff later."

I'm going to keep giving it a chance because with this cast they will definatly get to the good stuff later, I just hope it's not to late.
  • This show is a definite must see!

WOW!! This is truly a superb show! ALL of the actors are absolutely phenomenal. Sally Field is especially magnificent! As always :) The story line is excellent and the lives and stories portrayed in the show are very realistic - a viewer can relate to many of the situations. This show also really incorporates and portrays current life events and issues in it's storyline which grabs my attention even more. I am totally hooked on this show after having seen only the first two episodes. We can see that there is much to be unfolded about the different characters. It's one of those shows where you can't wait until next Sunday at 10:00pm to see what happens next!
  • With all of my other favorite shows just having ended, Brothers & Sisters definitely will help fill the void!

    "Superb"
When I tuned into Brothers & Sisters on Sunday night, I was eager to see this new show. I have always enjoyed Rachel Griffiths from a few movies I had seen, and most recently her character Brenda from Six Feet Under. When I found out she was going to be in a new show, I was definitely interested in watching. Then I found out that some Alias veterans (Rifkin, Getty, and Wettig) were also involved and that Ken Olin was producing and I knew that this was a show I had to watch. This show defintely has a basic premise, but I was immediately surprised at the interrelations of the core characters. There's definitely a feeling that these Brothers & Sisters are just that, related! My favorite character is most definitely Sarah. Sarah is strong willed and she really has an emotional range, which I felt was very much present. Calista Flockhart also did a great job as Kitty, and her relationship with her mother Nora is definitely an area of the series that intrigued me. It was at the point where the two argued in the kitchen that I realized the emotional weight this series was going to be capable of carrying.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the characters, and seeing this family grow. I think it'll be a great series to watch and I can't wait for next weeks episode!

I am interested in seeing the second episode. I think I can predict what will happen, but we'll see. I only wanted to see it because I like Sally Field and I used to be a big fan of Ally McBeal, so I wanted to check out what Calista's character is like and what she offers to the show.
  • Great show not expecting what I saw at all!!

I usually find family dramas to be dreadfully boring but this was a nice surprise. hopefully it continues to get better. what a great cast! You cannot go wrong with Sally field ever. I hope this gets Rachel Griffiths the credit she deserves. I always loved her character on Six Feet under. I think that this show will do well as long as it is given the time and the writers come up with interesting stories to keep the viewers. Calista Flockhart plays a character nothing like Ally McBeal, but interesting non the less. Keep up the good work, and please stay on long enough to get the rave reviews you deserve.
  • Nothing new.

With an all-star cast (which is the only reason I rated it above \"5\"!), it\'s not surprising that there are no out-standing characters (i.e., the actors must have signed a contract ensuring that their character wouldn\'t be overshadowed, thus, none stand out, although Ron Rifkin\'s character\'s near explosion at being almost accused of siphoning funds was, at least, distracting). The actors, dialogue, and plot, are hackneyed and trite, and the directors tried too hard to force the family down our throats: in one hour, we\'re told that the patriarch\'s business is going down the tubes, that funds have mysteriously disappeared, that he may or may not be having an affair, and this seemingly not-a-care-in-the-world man dies of a heart attack??? Couldn\'t the directors have spread it out a bit more over time? This would have played better as a half-hour day-time soap opera. Until that happens, don\'t waste your time.
  • Surprisingly good!

I decided to watch this show because I’m a fan of Balthazar Getty, I’ll keep on watching because it was actually a pretty good show. I wasn’t really expecting to like it too much, but I did. The characters were interesting, the story was appealing and the acting was pretty good! The chemistry between the siblings was great and I think they could really go places with it. I just hope they don’t make this show all about republicans vs. democrats. It makes for interesting background; I just hope it doesn’t become the focus. The last seen was very emotional with daddy dying and I hope they’re able to keep that level of emotion throughout the series. Let’s hope this one lasts…
  • I found this melodrama artificially sentimental. Like a bad Latino soap.

    2.5
    "Terrible"
I saw the Brothers and Sisters pilot, and I shall not watch any new episodes. Too bad for the wasted actors. This show appears to be directed to a specific public, namely mature women having had bad experiences with a male partner. A possible alternative is to rely on relatives, such as parents or siblings. I have a lovely relationship, since 35 years, with my husband, and I find artificially negative to show so many couples incapable of getting along. I suppose showing couple failure is required to make the abused-female audience feel adequate, as well to open the way for the brotherly love. This is pathetic, but it would be acceptable if the series was of good quality. But it is not.
  • A show about a large family and all of their intricate ties and issues...sounds simple, right? Wrong.

    7.8
    "Good"
The ideas are the same but are packaged as new. Relationships are tangled and somewhat difficult to understand upon first viewing them. BUT, and here's the strange part, you are sucked in because you get lost in the shuffle. You want know know the reasons why the people say and hint at the things they do. It's the type of show that if you miss one week, you're lost for good. It's that type of participation influenced show. So if you haven't been watching from the beginning I suggest you call it quits. I'm definitely tuning in next week. Everything is so convuluted, you have to keep watching to get any kind of closure. This could be negative in the long run though. Although this type of family drama is rather familiar, watching it on a TV show is some what draining.
  • A better-than-average family drama/prime-time soap opera with some truly outstanding actors.

    8.5
    "Great"
Any show featuring acclaimed and amazing actors such as Sally Field (what a coup to get her!), Tom Skerritt (albeit for only the pilot episode), Patricia Wettig, and Calista Flockhart, to name to most popular of the cast, must be decent, I thought. I was right. You can't have good drama without secrets and lies and conflict between characters, and that's exactly what the show has to offer. The tension between TV mom Sally Field and her on-screen daughter Calista Flockhart was amazing to watch and promises interesting storylines, if the writers continue down the current path. (Fingers crossed!)
  • I was not expecting what I saw.

I was not expecting what I saw. If anything this show is a sign that Hollywood is returning to its BRILLIANCE! The chemistry between the actors was amazing. The storyline great for a family drama. The acting like I said amazing. The characters allow you to get attached to them so easily its amazing by the end of the episode I was in shock. I absolutely disagree with the first guy or gal who reviewed this show. This show could go far and ok they might have made the republican the bad guy but that exists in the world and that is what they wanted to show. I Give it a 10.0 and even more if I could.
