Mike is returning to Texas to see his father who is supposedly ill. It turns out that his mother planned the whole thing based on the fact she knew he was broke, that his brothers restaurant was going in the tank, and she just wanted him home.
Some familiar faces in the new comedy Directed by Ted Wass. Michael Strahan stars as Mike who is a retired football player (sound familiar). Mike has come home because he thinks his father Coach played by Carl Weathers has had a stroke. His brother Chill played by Daryl "Chill" Mitchell is in a wheel chair because of an accident he blames Mike for even though Mike wasn't responsible. All of the men are played like an instrument by Mom played by CCH Pounder who plays Mrs. Fredric on the Summer Syfy hit Warehouse 13.
The crux of everything is Chill's restaurant is about to broke and Mike lost all his money to someone who extorted it. So the house Mike gave to his parents is all they have. Mom knows this before anyone was willing to admit it. Oh, and Coach did not have a stroke but his short term memory seems a little shot as he repeats himself quite often.
Moderately funny but not up to the levels of the other debut comedies this week. We'll see where they go with this. Thanks for reading...
