Two pretty good storylines in this special showing of the new comedy Brothers. This one was aired on Sunday before Animation Domination on FOX.

The first story is about Cynthia, Mom's sister and her second husband Lenny. Lenny is white and he is trying so hard to fit in that he says the wrong things constantly. The boys don't help when they set him up for a big whopper with Coach by telling him to buy some "old time Negroid memorabilia" as Chill calls it as a present for Coach. The boys tell Lenny that Coach "loves that kind of stuff!" Of course it doesn't help that Lenny can't be too smart if he believes them. So there is a major blow up which in turn sets the two sisters against each other.

In the end the men sort of seem to find a higher ground when Coach realizes that maybe the guy isn't half bad. They both love model trains which of course breaks down some barriers between them. Plus Coach makes some Irish Catholic joke about Lenny and Lenny is able to laugh about himself which is a good lesson for both of them.

The boys are still in competition with each other. Amara, a girl from the neighborhood comes back to town and both Chill and Mike want to date her. Chill takes her out and actually listens to what she has to say and is a real gentlemen. When Mike takes her out all he talks about is Mike. For someone like Amara who's just not that impressed with that kind of behavior that is a bonehead move. Mike doesn't even realize he did anything wrong which exacerbates the problem even more. In the end Chill wins their little contest. Of course the lesson they need to learn which I'm not sure they didn't is that they should not be competing with each other in the first place.

Fifth episode, actually listed as the sixth in the network guide, is showing a steady improvement in the stories and the relationships. We'll see if FOX has the patience or can afford to keep this on the air. Thanks for reading...moreless
