My fellow Buffy fans, I need your help!

I have never been much of a TV viewer, and haven't watched that many shows in my life.

Some years ago I finally got around to catching a TV show. This show was called Charmed, and I ended up following it every week during the first season only. However, about six years went by, and suddenly I found myself with an urge to somehow follow an on-screen story.

Naturally my choice was to continue was I had already started, and it was about this time too, that the Charmed DVDs started to be released in Denmark (where I live). I got the first couple of seasons as presents from some friends, and I ended up buying the rest myself, as I don't like the idea of only having "half a collection".

I watched Charmed a couple of times, which I, at that point, still found entertaining, though I found the "quality" of the show was gradually and greatly declining during the last half of the series' span. Furthermore, I felt the show lacked many of the things I was looking for in a good story. For example: seriousness, decent reccuring characters to give the story some depth, intelligent dialogue, surprises, references to past events, complex characters (okay, they had one, but they screwed him up in the end), a story that actually followed the lore and "rules" of the show, guest stars that could act, and I could keep on going forever.

I wanted something else, something better, something I hadn't seen before, but it needed the supernatural touch. And one day I suddenly remembered that my ex-girlfriend was always watching Buffy and Angel (neither of which I at that time had ever watched, and wasn't interested in). So I decided to download the first season, just for a peek, and in two days I had finished watching it. I fell completely in love with it, like I couldn't think of anything else but Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And before two weeks had passed, I had spent all my money on all seven seasons, plus the first season of Angel. I seriously saved money on food, to afford buying those damn DVDs.

For many weeks to come, I would find myself every day getting up in the morning, go to work, get home, watch Buffy, and go to bed. Buffy had everything I was missing - it was almost perfect. When I finished Chosen, I was left hungry for more. Naturally I tried starting up Angel, but it wasn't what I wanted then. I got halfway through the first season of Angel, and then I went back to watch Buffy all over again instead.

When I finished Buffy the second time, I finally got around to Angel again, of course starting from the top. Angel was great too, and I loved the idea of the two storylines progressing at the same time. It took me a little while to warm up to Angel, but it grew on me and eventually got me almost as hooked as Buffy did. And after I was done with Angel, I of course watched Buffy once again.

After a while I started to complaint to some of my friends about not having anything to watch. Yes, those poor people had heard it all before, so they introduced me to a show about aliens called Roswell. I liked Roswell a lot, and still do, but unfortunately it was short lived. Although it was not nearly as good as Buffy or Angel, it was still, in my opinion, a lot better than Charmed.

Recently, the same of my friends thought that it was about time that I again found a new show to watch. Some years had passed, and I hadn't really watched any new shows. But I had, of course, watched Buffy and Angel again, this time simultaneously and being true to the Buffyverse Chronology. So they bought me the first season of Heroes. However it took me a while to get started, but once I got started, I was hooked once again. And of course, once I finished heroes, I had to watch Buffy again.

Now, Iv'e just finished Buffy again, and the thing is; I'm considering starting on Charmed now, just to have something else to watch. But to be honest, I really don't want to watch it. The more other shows I watch, the worse I think of Charmed (actually I think Charmed is one of the worst TV shows I have ever watched. Today I feel ashamed when people see that I own the DVDs, but I feel proud when they mention Buffy or Angel).

So help me out guys! I need another show (or a film series) to watch. Preferably a supernatural one of high quality. I have enjoyed a few other shows (like Rome), but I tend to fall for the "magic" category, and I'd love some suggestions from other fans of the Buffyverse.

You could watch Dead Like Me. It only last 2 seasons but the show is hilarious. It's about a girl named George who dies but becomes a Grim Reaper. The shows about about George and her group of grim reapers. They remove the souls of people who are about to die and escort them to afterlife.

I agree with bones, but don't waste your time with the vampire diaries, the best show I know of is Supernatural, its in it's sixth season right now but all of the other seasons are out on DVD so there are around 100 episodes waiting for someone to watch them.

i understand what ur saying charmed is good but when u see other shows u think charmed seems so bad.(shannen and constance should have stayed)

i watched charmed(charmed went donhill when shannen left after season 3 and it completly failed when the creator left after season 4)

i watch hereos but it lacking something

but i like buffy the vampire slayer it was perfect.

i don care for angel and roswell....

some shows u could get into are:

supernatural(its about 2 brothers who fight demons and monsters and stuff.......spolier there is a 3rd brother...for some reason it reminds me of a better charmed with boys.)

legend of the seeker it was short lived but it was a great viewing show with lots of action, killing, magic, powers, creatures, and drama..

this is not me saying this but my sister said eastwick is a show u could get into she said she like eastwick better than charmed 2 her..eastwick was a very short lived show about 3 witches..

Maybe you'll enjoy The Vampire Diaries. It starts out really bad (like whoa bad), but once it finds its groove, it's great. Season 2 has been nothing short of fantastic. The show boasts great soundtracks, there's your highschool setting, the best friend is a witch, there's a bad boy vamp (spike) and a goodie good vamp seeking redemption (angel), not to mention some great Big Bads and some really fun guest stars. It's show that rewards you for sticking around while it finds its footing.

Watch Dead Like Me, Torchwood, Merlin, Legend of the Seeker and yes, cheesy as it could be guilty of being, Xena was one the most powerful, original, fun-yet-deep shows in TV history.

A lot of the good shows have already been mentioned. 'Supernatural' if you are looking for something on DVD, but also check out 'Lost Girl' and 'Haven', they are both great new supernatural themed shows that started last year.

    A few recommendations...

Veronica Mars is awesome after Buffy. It has very much the same feeling (including fantastic dialogue, sometimes even better than Buffy), although it's of course missing the supernatural parts.

    Sci-fi/Fantasy:

Supernatural is great, but I think the show has been going slowly downhill. I'd recommend watching a few episodes from the start of the series and decide whether to watch or not.

Battlestar Galactica has some great and long storylines. It's also pretty easy to get into, as it starts with a miniseries.

Dollhouse was a nice snack, but with just 20+ episodes, it was over way too soon. For all Whedon fans it's hard not to recommend it though, just get through the first 3-5 pretty bad episodes and it gets good. And of course if you haven't seen Firefly, watch it. Now.

And for the best storylines in TV check out The Wire. It's a hard series to get into, but once it grabs you, you just can't stop watching. Nothing to do with supernatural or fantasy setting, but it's TV at it's best.

I would suggest Smallville for a longer running show (it's on its 10th season). I would also recommendThe Vampire Diaries. Both high quality, well-written & awell-acted shows

Actually my friends bought me Dollhouse as a present (yes, the same ones who told me about the other ones). They had to get it via amazon.com though, as this particular series doesn't seem to be available in Denmark.

I got around to watching the first episode, and the first half of the second one, before getting sidetracked with other non-TV relates business. However, this comment about the first 3-5 episodes kind of re-awakes my interest in continuing to watch.

Yesterday I started to watch Dead Like Me (first four episodes), and it looks promising. And I'll probably end up finishing that one before continuing with Dollhouse.

I don't know that much about Firefly, besides the fact that many Buffyverse-fans seem to praise it (which admittedly should be enough reason for me to watch it). Maybe I'll get around to that one too.

I have considered many of the shows mentioned in the posts on this thread - especially Supernatural. The only problem for me with Supernatural, is that the show is still running. I'll just end up spending several weeks in front of the TV watching the show until I reach the currently running season, and then stop. I never watch the shows on TV because I hate having to wait for an entire week for each episode. Futhermore I really don't like having to plan when I'm going to watch TV.

I will most likely wait for the show to someday end, and then watch a few episodes. And if it catches my interest I'll by the entire series when it becomes available on DVD.

I'm just watching "Veronica Mars" now. Not only does it have clever dialogue and a smart heroine like Buffy but it also has Alyson Hannigan and Charisma Carpenter in recurring roles. Josh Whedon himself also has a cameo in one episode. I Just saw the eppy which introduced Carpenter's character last night. She first appears in a skimpy black bikini--indeed for the whole episode she doesn't wear hardly any clothes. Yeah, I'd say this series is worth renting, at least. Tongue out

I just recently started watching Dark Angel. I've watched the first season and now I'm watching the second season. The main character Max reminds me of Buffy and a little bit of Faith. The show's all sci-fi and in the future.
