The WB (ended 2003)
The worst season for me was season 1 for sure. I didn't like it because it was only twelve eps short and i didn't find those eps that entertaining.
But the best has to be...JUST HAS TO BE... Season 6! Great collection of episodes and i really liked the story and character arcs. Particularly Willow's drastic change!
But the other seasons are all very special and shine in their own way but season 6 clearly sparkles a little brighter in my eyes.
Rather than worse i'm going to say the season I dread the most when going through them is Season 4. Having said that I have only ever seen 1-3 once quite a while ago. The reason I say 4 is not just because of Riley although in the end I do go off him quite a bit, its because they concentrate so hard on The Initiative ignoring IMO Buffy and The Scoobys and they build it up and up and then they are gone! Adam just isn't interesting boo hoo you want understand fear in people get a sociology and psychology degree Frankenstein hurry up and try to take over the world in a really bizarre way that I don't ever fully understand! I want to watch someone who does something and creeps me out like a vampire or makes me think "what the hell is going on" like Glory and see true human evilness in Warren or someone who thinks they are evil like Jonathan and Andrew they just are more interesting characters and you (or at least I) get into them and see in them whereas Adam just talking is boring after a while. Don't get me wrong there are some absolutely fab episodes in Season 4: Something Blue. Restless, The Harsh Light of Day, Fear Itself, The Initiative (because of Spike), A New Man, The Yoko Factor (again Spike playing people, brilliant) and obviously (IMO) the Faith episodes are spot on. I love Season 6 and 7 maybe again because one I have watched the recently and more often than 1-3 but they are fantastic even if 6 is beyond depressing and put me on a downer the first time I watched it.
Wow! Man I have waffled. Anyway that was my 2 pennies worth, nice to see so many different opinions all valid! Oh and please excuse my grammar its the one thing I can't grasp!
I absolutely loved seasons 1-3 as the high school themed episodes were very entertaining and had a very fresh feel to it. Plus it had the best Buffy big bads. I think the weaker seasons are 4 and 5 they are still entertaining but the villains are just grating and too much attention is paid to Spike and his obsession with Buffy
I'm also one of the few Buffy fans that actually finds season 6 enjoyable to watch; although I found it difficult to watch Tara die it did pave the way for dark Willow who was incredibly ruthless and powerful
