You have to wonder if Joss Whedon knew what he was about to unleash when he came up with the idea for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
From the first moment, when that creepy voice spoke of some of the past slayers, to the final line of the pilot..."The Earth is deffinately doomed.", the show was a hit.
And while it was aimed at a mostly younger, female viewing group, everyone could find something about it they liked. No matter if it was the cast, the effects or what ever, the show pulled you in and did not let go.
And even now, years after it has ended its seven year run, Buffy is still loved and watched by virtually millions.
I would have to say that if more of todays television shows were to follow the formula of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there would be more hits and less misses and the sale of video recording devices would skyrocket.
In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer If you like Action romance and all the drama that comes with being a teen the slayer and in love well this show is for you. Buffy the Vampire slayer is well written by Joss whedon who i think is one of the best script writers. I love the characters because they all bring something different to the table and none of them are boring.Buffy is played by Sarah Michelle Gellar I honestly think that this show was a cult classic
I was not a BIG fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer but when I watched it, it was really interesting and the plots of every episode were awesome. I love the characters because they all bring something different to the table and none of them are boring.
I really like Buffy the Vampire Slayer because it is interesting and exciting. The reason I started watching the show was because of Sarah Michelle Gellar. I love her and I had heard of her show so I decided to give it a try. I honestly think that this show was a cult classic. If it wasn't for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, shows like Angel or Charmed would have never excited. The stories are really creative and I am glad that they created a simple movie into one of the greatest supernatural shows ever to air on television. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is great show, with great characters, a great cast, a great crew, and one of the most creative storylines ever.
I don't kno where to start.... Buffy the vampire slayer is the bestt tv show eva! If u like action, romance, lesbians, and lots of tears than this is da fing 4 u. There is seven seasons in total... Joss whedon is da best script writer eva. Also if u like buffy the vampire slyer i suggest u don't watch the movie, the movie is da worst thing eva. It is a real show stopper and brings buffy down soo badly... So keep away. Also email me ur fave character 2 email@example.com and i will reply ASAP!! Also let me know who ur fave couple is. And anythin else u like!!
Buffy as literature is not my original idea, of course. I discovered Buffy in the middle of Season 5 and was instantly hooked. Joss Whedon is a master at blending one part high comedy, one part tear-your-heart-out drama, and wonderfully campy horror. The real horror, of course, is life, and what it takes to get through the horrors that confront us all. Buffy attracted an extraordinarily talented team of writers, who remained loyal to the show. For this reason, Buffy just got better and better. Some episodes are unique to television, such as the mostly silent "Hush" or the extraordinary musical episode, "Once More With Feeling." Characters in this show undergo remarkable story arcs which take them to places that sometimes make you gasp in surprise, and Whedon's dramatic instincts are nearly always spot-on. Buffy is a great show for anyone who likes to think, or laugh, or be deeply moved.
This show has made me laugh uncontrollably, and then five minutes later, make me cry like crazy. This show is the complete opposite of a teen vampire show. I will always love each episode, and that will never change, even when I'm 40 and with kids. I started watching this when I was in 5th grade. I didn't really understand it very much, but I got all the seasons on DVD. Now, I watch and understand the complexity and all the metaphors that the entire group of people that worked on Buffy created. It's especially fun to find foreshadowing. This show is more than vampires and demons, it's about finding your own personal demons that are written in the show. My favorite seasons are the first three, the second being my all-time favorite. I feel as though once you brought Dawn into the mix, and took Buffy out of college, it was hard to relate to Buffy's life, unlike the high school years. I still watch the later seasons, and some of my favorite episodes come from them. But the ability to relate to the characters and their problems is harder to do starting in the fifth season. I recommend this series to all of my friends. It is truly amazing to watch, and no show has ever made me cry any time their is a certain song during a dramatic scene between my favorite couple (Close your eyes; Buffy and Angel).
When the show first begun, it had a very rocky start, as the producers were on a low budget. However, as each series progressed, the show improved on music, editing, effects, shots and plot. This is a landmark in Cult TV and although it has been cancelled it will remain with fans and others for many, many years!
Gaining successful reviews everywhere and increasingly high dvd sales, no one can say that this is a bad show and those who do just clearly don't appreciate good television and couldn't recgonise it if it jumped up and smacked them in the face!
Sarah Michelle Gellar stars in the hit Tv series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She plays the lead role as Buffy Summers. She has many friends: Xander, Willow, Tara, Oz, Faith (well kinda), Angel, riley, and she couldn't do anythin without her mum Joyce, her watcher Giles, and Her Sister Dawn. Together they are one big family, and through the entire series, they grown stronger. The time travels through Love and Hate, and everything else inbetween. This Prgramm will put tears in your eyes and a smile on your face. By watching everything that passes you will realize that you life is worth living. Hope You enjoy. xxxx
Needs to come back! The stars arn't doing anything special now days, quick before they get to old! A great serious. Unique and nothing like anything else before its time. Angel the spin-off was different again but watching the series from the beginning you understand the cult following that can be developed from watching the series. In secondary school and college, friends experiencing dramas sometime similar but then also unlike anything to be experienced by those who are watching. Battling demons and vampires that exist close by. A great insight into the character of Buffy, wanting the normal life but getting anything but and after years as it turns into battling the bad wanting an easier life gets harder for her and in what is the only storyline I didn't agree with she falls for Spike. He was not a hero but a hinderance, when he was bad in Season 2 he was good to watch. But when he tried being good he was terribly sickening! Willow is a big example of 7 years, teen bully victim with brains turning into a well developed witch but touched by grief went to far with her magics. Xander, Giles, Anya, Oz were all great characters and they all had an individual trait that was intriguing and could always be developed upon. Even Dawn having the most potential, somewhat annoying but bound to be as good as a slayer as her big sister. The big bad every season never let you down and I feel Joss Whedon could develop this series so much further!!!
Buffy the vampire Slayer is the best TV show in the world. I watch it all the time on FX, i also have every season o DVD, and i know all the lyrics to the songs in once more with feeling (The musical Episode). My favourite character is Faith Lehane because she is sooo funky and awsome. My fave couple is Willow and Tara (Willara). they are so cute together and they are soooo sweet. I luv them both soo much and Spike is so funny, but xander is very funny and always dates Demons, he isn't a very lucky guy whith the women. I would recoment this show to everyone i can. 5 star rating.
Wow, there is no words enough in this world to describe how magnific and perfect Buffy is. Totally one of the 3 best shows on tv's history, and my favourite!
I think we all know the main history about a girl slayng vampires and demons, but this is just the outfit that wear the show, fufilled of metaphors and the real concept of waht is live in this world.
Honestly, I've never found (before or after) any other show so complex and complete like Buffy - The Vampire Slayer. Even the "less loved" episodes like "Bad Eggs" or "Never Kill a Boy On the First Date" are rich clever.
While the paramedics try to save Buffy, Willow desperately calls on Osiris to bring Tara back to life. She is told that magick will not reverse a natural human death and she becomes consumed with rage. With her emotional anchor gone, Willow gives in to the dark magick that she had turned away from for Tara's sake. As the magick begins to control her, it becomes clear that no one is safe. Especially Warren. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
i luv buffy the vampire slayer ppl do u think buffy better than angel if you agree messgae me ! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but if you desagree message me im just doing a poll which is the better show !! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) moves to Sunny Dale and meets her new friends Xander Harris (Nicholas Brendan), Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan) and friend and watcher Giles (Anthony Head) And along the way meeting the brooding mysterious Angel (David Boreanaz) who is also a vampire with a soul. Another friend is Oz (Seth Green) who is also Willow's boyfriend and a werewolf. Buffy also meets Spike (James Marsters) who is a olf friend / enemy from Angel's past who starts off as an enemy for Buffy but turns into a love. We also meet Anya (Emma Caulfield) Xander's girlfriend and ex vengence demon. Riley Finn (Marc Blucas). Tara Maclay (Amber Benson) Willows girlfriend. Dawn Summers (Michelle Trachtenberg) Buffy's sister. Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpender) Xanders ex girlfriend and we meet other enemies and fools. The Master, Drusill, Darla, William the Bloody, Angelus, The Mayor, Adam, Glory, Warren, Andrew, Johnathan, Evil Willow and The First.
Buffy its an awsome show the Angel conection its good as well every season Buffy gets better i think the only desappointed thing was Season 7 finale but i mean not because desappointed me in all means only saing that, of all the episodes, the final was the episode that less like it to me anyway the show in its complete mean it was ok Angel its better show for me but anyway at least this one had a "final" not like Angel that ends in the mid-air and we never get to know (or at least myself) what happend in the end...
I love Buffy the vampire slayer Very much with, Willow (alyson Hannigan), Buffy (Sarah Michelle Geller) and Xander (Nicholas Brendon). They are the 3 main members of the Scooby Gang and will do anything to help each other and the world. But on there way they meet Cordy, Tara, Anya, Faith, Giles, Dawn, Spike and Angel with the help from each other they can do whatever they set their minds to. My favourite character is Faith (Eliza Dushku), she is SOOOOO hot. But the funniest character is Gile when he is Drunk and Spike. I like the way Spike uses his funny American Accent and the way Giles nearly falls over. And last but not least my fave episode is Bargaining part 1 and 2 because i like the quotes and buffy bot.
I don't even remember how old I was when I first started watching Buffy, I guess I was about 10! At that time, I hardly watched TV, I hardly listened music, and then I still remember when I first watched Buffy, it was only magical, I couldnt stop watching it.
Buffy was my favorite tv series and it has been for all this time, there was some episodes I watched so many times I knew the lines.
I love supernatural series, but Buffy was this and much more; it gave me the fantasy a kid needed, and when I was growing past the years, it helped me many times to understand the problems to be a teenager.
I really cant describe what I feel about this so special serie, just say I love it
Joss Whedon is a genius. Buffy was one of the most influential shows ever created. It re made the "arc" show and the acting was superb. I miss it a lot. I would love to have it back, but the ending pretty much made it impossible to even make a film of it. SMG was superb as Buffy and some of the acting was second to none, notably when Buffy's mum died, when she kills Angel in season 2 and when she sacrfices her life for her sister. Buffy changed the way some people viewed sci-fi. It had love, loss and teen angst. It made woman feel empowered and computer geeks cool. Without Buffy some of the shows nowadays wouldn't be on air, or if they were, they wouldn't be as good. Buffy is probably the greatest show ever made.
A young woman (sarah michelle gellar) moves to sunnydale and unknowingly stumbles upon a hotbed of supernatural activity. Buffy along with her watcher jiles and a few close friends--take on anything that the demon ridden town can put in front of them.
The characters are very well developed and interesting to watch. Eventhough all of the shows deal with unreal situations, the show makes honest examples of struggles that we have in everyday life. Buffy herself is truely shines and for the most part conveys Joss Whedon's idea of a role model for women; she is a strong, take-charge, kind of a girl but still remains to take on feminine and delicate traits. She really makes the show. Although, while I did like the last episodes, they did leave a little more to be desired. The show while still amazing from its conception--could have been concluded better.
In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the Slayer.
Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as Buffy Summers, The Chosen One, the one girl in all the world with the strength and skill to fight the vampires. With the help of her close friends, Willow (Alyson Hannigan), Xander (Nicholas Brendon), and her Watcher Giles (Anthony Stewart Head), she balances slaying, family, friendships, and relationships.
This show was the start of Angel anyway nothing to said more than EXCELENT in every mean of that word really good TV show like no other
another series which helped set the trend for Girl Power. it was nice to see for once the hero of the hour was a woman after all. SMG was/is a great actress and deserved the role entirely as our favoured hero.
the other members of the cast were/are great as well: Alyson 'American Pie' Hanngian-Denisof, Nick Brendan, Emma 'I hate Bunnies' Caulfield, Amber Benson and Anthony 'The Primeminister' Head. each very good at that they did in the seasons they appeared in.
of course the villains - they were great. The Big Bad and major storyacrcs- we would we be without them?
overall the best show since... err, let me get back to you.
In every generation there is a chosen one.
She alone will stand against the vampires, demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer...

Thanks to Firefly and Serenity for arousing my interest in Buffy. I ignored BTVS for its entire run, only watching some segments of reruns on FX. If you like the style of writing in Firefly, you'll love Buffy. It's got horror, drama and action... but it's got a LOT of humor. The characters are very well developed and they are easy to relate to. Xander is probably my favorite character - he is actually a LOT like me, only a little less shy. I guarantee that if you (and I'm speaking to the skeptics here) watch the show, you'll find a character who is not much different than you, which is what I find so appealing. The show, the characters, are real, even if the situations (the monstery, mystical ones) aren't. Some of the effects are cheesy (yet still pretty good for TV in the 90s) and some of the monsters and stuff are a little weird, but overall, this is a solid show.
Don't think that you have to be a goth to love the show, either. That's the stereotype I had associated with this show for it's entire original run, and it's why I missed out on many days anxiously awaiting the new episode of the week. (Don't you love the agonizing torture of waiting to find out what happens next week on serialized shows? I know I do). It's very intellectually stimulating. And hey, if you're not to the whole intellectual scene, it's got some amazing fight scenes and the most amazing one-liners ever to be seen on television. What are you waiting for?
I basically grew up watching this show and hated it when the series came to an end.I felt like some part of me was missing.Recently I've heart that there is going to be a animated Buffy new series and i am so happy ; words can't express my joy ! I would like to thank whoever is responsible for the animation for making this possible.I am sure that I am not the only Buffy-fan out there that will enjoy the cartoon and I don't think that anyone would mind me thanking you on behalf of all the fans ! Good luck !
where do i start??? firstly, when this amazing show debuted in the UK on the terrestrial channel BBC 2,i was instantly stunned by the sheer brilliance that this show is capable of,and i love it!!!
Season 1-started the show off to an amazing pace and made some of the most easily accessable characters instantly loveable, the monster of the week storylines were needed to bring out each supporting cast members' characteristics...an what a finale!!!
Season 2-started greatly, and improved on everything(unbelievably)from last year and found its feet very quickly, the storylines got more darker which was needed, and made the show a great success,it also showed off the great talent the cast were capable of.
Season 3-simply fantastic all the way through from beginning to end...it introduced Faith Lehane(one of the greatest villains in the history of tv)the episodes are explosive and on their top form.
Season 4-a misjudged season of the show and is what i believe to be the most successful period of the shows run...it brought in some of the most fantastic independant episodes, such as the highly acclaimed Hush, the brilliant Who Are You?,the hilarious Pangs & Something Blue, and a very out of the blue finale Restless that was needed and rounded off each character and added to the mythology of the show which is why i love it.
Season 5-had a change of direction for the characters and got more, and more darker throughout the season with some of the greatest twists in the plot ever for the show(The Body,The Gift).
it contained a great handful full of great episodes and some of the best like-The Gift,Intervention,The Body, and Crush...fan(G)tastic.
Season 6-dealt with huge issues of life and showed off everything what this show was about which is why i found this season to be the most striking out of the seven and provided complexity to our 'Scoobies'...and that twist for the fin ale trilogy...whats not to love here?
Oh yeah and it has the spectacular Once More With Feeling where all cast members burst into song!!!
Season 7-a greatand epic finality to the show and was certainly of epic standards...a fab ending to a much loved show.
all in all this show is a classic and is already mimicked across the globe with shows trying to get the complexity that Buffy was capable of...all will never reach the success of this show.
it is a classic show and is my favourite show of all time.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an awesome show which I love(d) to watch. The first three seasons were in my opinion the best, and that is mainly because then the character Angel was still on that show and I loved him. I was a ( still am actually) huge Angel/ Buffy shipper and wanted them to be togheter and stay together. So I was very disappointed when Angel left, and that they in the end didn't end up together. But other than that I still love all Buffy seasons, and I enjoyed every episode of it. I found it a shame that it ended, and in my opinion I would have loved to see what happened after the last episode. So yeah the should bring this show back, but oh well...
This show is one of the greatest shows ever! It has more than one storyline. That what is so great about it. all the characters awesome. My favorite character is of course Buffy, willow, xander, spike, giles, anya, and angel. I love the villians in this show are great and all of them have a sense of humor. The Masters was a good first villian. He had an ancient feel of him which was scary in a way. In the second season spike, Drusilla, and at one point angel were the villians. Spike and drusilla were great villians because they were young, cool, and dark. They were ag great couple. Spike was there to kill the slayer, but he didn't cause he tried and he couldn't. angel was good and Buffy and him were doing great until on her birthday they slept together and he lost his soul and started killing again. In the third season the villians were Faith, a rogue slayer, and the Mayor, the person who made sunnydale for demons to come. The Mayor was going to ruin the world with the help of another slayer Faith who at first is good, but when she kills a human being she turns more bad than she was. Her and Buffy fight to the death and Buffy wins, but faith doesn't die she just goes into acoma. In the fourth season Buffy is in colledge and the initiative, an army/demon hunting group. They capture demons and say they kill them, but a scientist and a professer make a great monsters and kill ver well, but Buffy, willow, xander, and giles use all their powers to kill him. In the fourth season the villian is Glory a god who is trying to destroy the world and needs the key, which is dawn, she needs the key to open the portal to other demensions. Glory is way stronger than Buffy, but they find a way to beat her. Buffy dies saving Dawn. The next season the bring Buffy back from the dead and the villians are three nerds. They are very funny, their names are andrew, jonathan, and Warren. They are actually really bad, but only warren really is. He shoots buffy and tara and kinlls tara. willow goes evil and tortures Warren and kills him. and latly the last villian is thr First evil. He is very scary, annoying, and cool. He was not in real flesh. He could only become the form of the peole who have died. He makes a huge army and they scooby gang take them down in a very harsh battle. The other thing i like about Buffy is the relationships there. The Buffy/angel, buffy/spike, buffy/riley, willow/xander, willow/tara, willow/oz, xander/cordelia, xander/anya, giles/olivia, they are all great. It started out small, but then turned into something big. I wish they would make a movie or something.
Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, James Marsters, Seth Green, Marc Blucas, David Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Anthony Stewart Head. A chosen one kills vampires and other demons.
This is probably the show that got the attention of the many viewers who eventually turned to watch the wb. This television program has been one of the best programs that the any station has had. This show brought together some supernatural ideas, drama chops were also shown, as well as even some comedy. Other ideas were often some of the central bases for the show. I really wish that the show would have continued and taken its powerful followers any where that the televsion show really went. As one of the best shows on television that i have ever seen, i give this show a 9.7.
I believe it should come back for another season. Because of all the ass- kicking every week. I would like to kno what happens to buffy after Spike dies. Also what happens the scooby gang after the 7th season ended!! We will never know because the people have finshed Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I want it to come back for 7 more seasons or one season. I doesn't matter I want it to come back. I love Buffy the Vampire slayer and I miss it so much. I have collected some of the buffy seasons my goal is to have all of the seasons. We love and miss u BUFFY!!!! R.I.P. Spike!
I didn't really ever think i would want to watch this so i didn't ever watch it, well one day they were showing a Buffy marathon all the way from season 1 to season 3 to kick off the 4 season so i watched and loved it, and i didn't want to wait every week for a new episode, so i just borrowed them from my aunt, and they were awesome, i wasn't the biggest fan of the 7th season, i don't usually like the last season of any series, but i watched it and cryed, but i'm discourging any new watchers, i'm just telling old watchers, i hope you liked this show as much as i did.
