When Buffy is trying to call it off with Spike at the beginning of the episode she calls what they have a "freak show". This is an odd choice of words considering thats what Angel labeled his and Buffy's relationship in season 3's "The Prom".

After trying to plead sorry, Willow gets slapped by Dawn. Michelle said in an interview that when finding out she had to slap Alyson, was rather nervous because she has so much respect for Alyson, and didn't want to hurt her, however Alyson told Michelle to give it her all, and she reluctantly said okay, and said she pretended Alyson was a bully in high school. She apologized to Alyson after the scene.

Despite Sarah Michelle Gellar saying that James Marsters was naked in the opening scene, Joss has said that James was not naked and in fact wearing bache underwear and if you look carefully on your DVD as Spike rolls over you can see them.

This episode was dedicated in memoriam to J.D. Peralta, who was Marti Noxon's assistant. She died of cancer on November 12, 2002, at the age of 31.

When Willow and Dawn are leaving to go out to eat and to go to a movie Dawn leaves a note for Buffy on the fridge saying that it's the first place Buffy goes, "Buffy is such a pig after she kills something" This is a reference to the episode, "Faith Hope and Trick" and Faiths comment about slaying making one hungry and horny.
