This episode also explains why Commander Nebula hates the idea of robot Space Rangers (he was scared they'd go crazy like XL).
Episode Villain: XL
In this episode, we learn that XL was the original XR.
It was noted that Mira could read minds in this episode but only learns how to in an episode after this one.
XR: (about XL) Looks like someone forgot to read the assembly instructions!
Mira: There's one thing bothering me, Buzz. XL was completely deactivated and in storage, so who turned him back on? Buzz: I've got a pretty good idea. (cuts to Planet Z, we hear Zurg laughing, then fade out)
Commander Nebula: What flesh? What blood? You're a machine!
XR: I can't believe it's my own flesh and blood.
A line from "The Adventure Begins" was reused. The LGMS slipped the XR paperwork in with their vacation requests.
XL makes his first appearance on the series.
Animation Production by: Hana Animation Co., Ltd
XL is a take off of Frankenstein but only as a robot.
