Caillou hosts the "Which one doesn't belong?" game at the end of the episode. In a group of a carrot, a tomato, lettuce and a toothbrush, the toothbrush doesn't belong because it's not a vegetable. A ferryboat is the odd one out in a group that also includes a car, a van and a truck --- the others all travel on land. In a set of a swingset, a flower, a slide and a mechanical horsey, the flower is a plant, whereas the others are things to play on.
Caillou talks about himself at the end of the episode. He also talks about his Grandpa.
Caillou and Daddy sing a song called "A Car Trip" in-between the second and third stories.
The third segment doesn't really fit the "outdoor" theme. A portion of it takes places outdoors, but the play is held indoors.
Although online episode descriptions describe the boy who visits Caillou's playschool, Alan, as having Down's Syndrome, there is no mention of it on the show itself.
Caillou: I found out what Alan is really good at --- acting!
Caillou: Ya'ay. The dragon is now tame. He's going to take me for a dragon ride. Take a picture, Clementine.
Clementine: A dragon in the jungle? I'd better take a picture of him.
Narrator: Caillou wondered why Alan was having some much trouble with climbing and swinging. After all, Alan was a whole year older.
Daddy: Caillou, look. It's the captain!
Captain: Welcome aboard.
Narrator: The ferryboat captain showed Caillou the controls of the boat and when they got close to the shore, he even let Caillou blow the horn.
Daddy: Gas is like food for the car. It makes the car go.
Caillou: Where are we going to drive to, Daddy?
Daddy: Oh, I don't know.
Caillou: Rosie, you're all white.
Rosie: Rosie baking!
Mommy: Oh is that what's going on here?
Daddy: Yup. Believe it or not, this will all result in a delicious apple pie.
Narrator: Caillou loved playing in the dirt. He was finding all sorts of interesting things.
