That looks like the intention, but it's more of a cross between Ace of Cakes and American Chopper. Ace of Cakes has more focus on their clients, while Cake Boss is much more about the drama in the cake shop, and the screwing around. The cake shop is much more of a business in Cake Boss, while Ace of Cakes is much more of a "family," so the dynamic is very different.

Although it has always been standard TV "policy" to imitate its betters,
recent shows have done so to the point of being criminally plagiaristic.
To name but a scant few of the recent ones:
1) Mythbusters vs SmashLab
2) Psyche vs Mentalist
3) Ace of Cakes vs Cake Boss
Notice that the imitators do not fare as well as their predecessors. What a surprise!

Hello Guys
I came upon 4 episodes of cake boss as torrent (S01 e 02,03,06,09). It was awesome the cake making and the envolvence, but can't find more episodes, and can't see them either online, becuse I'm not from the US. Does anybody know where can I get them ?

Ace of Cakes workers wear street clothes and are always touching their hair and faces and then touching cake parts.
"Ace" did one competition with a dirty bandage around his wrist.
That show is unappetizing and unhygenic.
Carlos's Bakery crew dresses appropriately and have clean hands. It's also lighthearted and fun.

The Ace of Cakes hipsters need an art medium people aren't expected to eat.

Saying that Cake Boss is a rip off of Ace of Cakes is like saying Jon and Kate plus 8 is a rip off of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes are both about cakes and Jon and Kate and Kardashians are both reality shows but doesn't mean they are rip offs of each other.

This is a case of having a successful show on one network, then having the same type of show on another. It happens all the time. Who Wants to be a Millionaire spawned a bunch of game shows. The Cosby Show revitalized the sitcom. Law and Order and CSI led to a huge amount of cop shows. Survivor started the reality show craze.
