The First Gig is the debut episode of California Dreams and is a great introduction to the awesome characters that made California Dreams a successful show for years. And with a humorous plot The First Gig makes a successful clean show look good. Peter Engel really made fans get their money's worth with teen cutie pie Brent Gore as Jenny's brother Matt as the lead star of California Dreams and Ryan O'Neal is wonderful as Dennis and really makes the episode worth watching. Also don't miss the awesome ending music video of the California Dreams Theme Song and fun songs that made the show a success of the 90's. It's no secret why California Dreams was one of NBC's popular shows of 1992 and this plot episode of California Dreams proves that Peter Engel is considered the father of teen shows for NBC and he really shows his skill in producing this episode,
