  • Probably the weakest episode so far this Season

I was slightly bored by this episode I have to admit, something that hasn't happened to me before in Season 3. I liked the resolution to the Koons' story line, at least some joy came out of it with Felicia being f***ed to happiness by Hank and set free. I'm guessing the next 2 episodes will focus on Hank's other two lovers and their ending, leaving the Finale all to Hank and the people who really matter in his life.

On another note, I'm confused about Rick Springfield. He's like a second rate Lou Ashby. The writers must just really like old school rockers.
  • A bunch of funny moments thrown into an episode where nothing much happens.

After last week's episode, which was superb by simply focusing on the characters interacting with one another and resolving long festering plot points, this week's felt a little stale, especially since nothing much happened except Charlie losing his job as Rick Springfield's agent. Everything else felt a little like filler. However, this isn't to say that the episode wasn't funny, because it was filled with some great moments. Everythintg with Charlie was excellent (as usual) and Hank and Charlie trying to get the coke from David Edelstein's dorm room was classic. I enjoyed a lot of Hank's lines, but overall, the episode felt a bit lackluster.

I'm not one to 100% trust Wikipedia, but the finale seems to be titled "Mia Culpa." Now, with three episodes left, I'm hoping that they start leading up to a Mia/Hank reunion. Mia remains one of the only pawns on the board that could potentially provide an onslaught of drama and intensity to Hank's life. I could see this season ending stronger than Seasons 1 or 2 if they can pull this off right.

Overall, a pretty good episode, but there wasn't too much going on, at least to me.
  • A fun and funny episode.

How awesome was that dorm police chase scene? It was like something right out of an 80's comedy, and few movies or TV shows can capture that aura of classic film so that's a true testament to the show.

I also hope that this is not the end of Rick Springfield's tenure on the show as he has been awesome this season in the role of the exaggerated rock star.

But for the first time in a few weeks we just had a truly funny installment of Californication from top to bottom. Hank being so irresponsibly hilarious and Dean Koontz being awesome as well when he suggested he and Karen make love.

    Only three more episodes left.
