The title theme, "Girl In The Dark", later called "Callan's Theme", even had lyrics to it. Edward Woodward released a version of him singing it — which he says he'd rather forget.
The iconic opening scene with the swinging light globe that is shot out was actually done by having someone shoot the bulb out with an air pistol. The producers hired the top marksman in England and the filmed while he tried to shoot it over and over - and kept missing. Then Edward Woodward said he'd have a go, picked up the gun and shot out the bulb on the first try - lucky shot. That is the shot filmed.
Jack Trombey's title music was known as 'Girl in the Dark' before it became the Callan Theme.
