First part of a two-part series on values and relationships in African art. "Glorious Past" is explored by LIFE magazine photographer Elliot Elisofon who has had a lifelong interest in the subject and owns a considerable collection. Discussion illustrated with many examples of African art, including masks, ceremonial items, statues. Film clips illustrate some aspects of African dance.
