Camp Lazlo

Show Summary

Camp Lazlo is Cartoon Network's original Series. Created by Joe Murray, who is known for such shows as Nickelodeon's Rocko's Modern Life, Camp Lazlo features a very crazy summer camp. Cast: Like Joe's other show, this show also features all animal characters. Carlos Alazraqui, Tom Kenny, and Mr. Lawrence, who used to work for Joe on Rocko's Modern Life, also provide lead voices in this show. New voice actors/actresses are well-known voice actor Jeff Bennet, first time voice acting Steve Little, Broadway actress Jodi Benson, and Tom Kenny's wife Jill Talley. Story: Camp Lazlo chronicles life in a place called Camp Kidney that's set in the Pimpleback Mountains next to Leakey Lake, with rustic cabins named after all of the famous beans (Soy, Garbanzo, Jumping and Cocoa among them). It centers on an energetic Brazilian monkey named Lazlo who happens to be a Bean Scout and hangs with his two best pals: a wise and neurotic Indian elephant named Raj and Clam, your basic highly intelligent albino pygmy rhino. They're surrounded by Scoutmaster Algonquin C. Lumpus, a thin-skinned moose, and a Squirrel Scout camp full of girls across the lake. The adventures of once an ordered camp to a camp full of wacky events. Characters: Bean Scouts Lazlo is the main character of the show and he has a tough time with structure, rules and routines of the camp. Voiced by: Carlos Alazraqui. Raj is a giant elephant who hates a mess, cowers from snakes, bugs, often brings Lazlo back down to Earth, and hates being alone which is why he often follows his friends -- and getting in trouble with them. Voiced by: Jeff Glenn Bennett. Clam is the third member of the group in the Jelly Cabin trio. Although he is often described as "four cents short of a nickel." he is acutally very intelligent, but never applies himself. Voiced by: Carlos Alazraqui. Lumpus, the frustrated and scoutmaster moose, is always trying to bring down the fun and he is very self-centered. He has a major crush on Jane Doe, the scoutmisstress of Acorn Flats. Voiced by: Tom Kenny. Slinkman is Lumpus' sidekick who has all the personality of a tree stump and no back bone. He is an obediant person slug but doesn't stand up for himself. Voiced by: Tom Kenny. Edward the Platypus is Lazlo's self-proclaimed enemy who always tries to ruin everyone's day and if someone is not on his side holds a strong grudge. Voiced by: Doug Lawrence. The Dung Beetles, or, Chip and Skip, are Edward's two smelly, and clueless Dung Beetle "side-kicks". Voiced by: Steve Little. Squirrel Scouts Patsy Smiles is a chirpy mongoose that has a major crush on Lazlo. Even though she can be a bit annoying at times, she makes attempts to get to him. Other than that characteristic, she actually knows various fighting moves and hates a lot of girly stuff like dresses. Voiced by: Jodi Bensons. Nina Neckerly, one of Patsy's best friends, she's very much the smart one of her friends. More on the bookish side and maybe a nice Squirrel Scout among everyone. Voiced by: Jill Talley. Gretchen is an ever-hungry alligator that wants to eat anything, especially happy monkeys. She's the toughest one of the 3 main Squirrel Scouts and is always in a grouchy mood. Therefore, she is best to be avoided. Voiced by: Jill Talley. The Scoutsmistress of the Squirrel Scouts, Jane Doe is a perky deer that has to deal with the girls everyday. She is unaware of Lumpus' crush for her. Voiced by: Jodi Benson. Together these characters make one big laugh-fest! Production: Camp Lazlo is airing with new episodes on Cartoon Network's "Fridays" at 8:00 P.M (E/P) which started on July, 8, 2005. Cartoon Network has ordered 26 episodes of Camp Lazlo airing on it's "Fridays" programming block. Those 26 episodes will be split into 13 episodes for each season so Camp Lazlo already has a second season in production. Now, season 3 of the show will begin airing in June 2006 while season 4 of Camp Lazlo is in production, making the total of 52 episodes. Award --The series won 3 awards on the Cartoons on the Bay even taken place in Positano, Italy. It won 3 three Pulcinella Awards for best TV Series, Best Series for Children, and Best Character for Lazlo. --Got an Emmy nomination for the episode "Hello Dolly/Overcooked Beans".moreless

Here is what I think of Camp Lazlo.

    GOOD STUFF

    Surprisingly good character design

    Good voices for the characters.

    Classic background music.

    Background design is good.

The episode stories are real good and funny.

    Good kids show.

    BAD STUFF

Doesn't have the correct background music to fit the scene sometimes.

The last couple of episodes of the series weren't so good.

People say different things of this show. Others say it's natural Few say it's gay Few others say it's not good. I say it's awesome and funny "Camp Lazlo" is a nice show to enjoy even with others but it has a lot of times where it makes you want to rip your hair out. Luckly the good art designs can help coat those feelings. This is a great original show for Cartoon Network and a great creation from Joe Murray. I recommend this show to everyone but to most people who enjoy cartoons, especially classics.moreless

This Made my Top 10 Of My Cartoonetwork Best shows list because I really injoined watching this show every day when I came from school and the Best thing about shows like these are that people don't really remember them but when you bring it up you're like I use to watch that show then you get the guessing what ever happened to that show do it just end or did it just get canceled and that really the only reason I came to tv.com to find out what happened to show's like But like Always unsuccessful or it's just a dead end But in the other things this was great and I loved it Thank You Joe Murraymoreless

  • You don't have to be a Boy Scout or Girl Scout to enjoy Camp Lazlo

    9.5
Joe Murry continues to be a great creator with Camp Lazlo. The show is about a monkey named Lazlo who befriends Raj, an elephant, and Clam, a rhino. All three of them are Bean Scouts and are at a summer camp who get into crazy adventures with other Bean Scouts and deal with the Squirrel Scouts. The show has artwork and animation that gives a nice atmosphere that feels like Rocko. Characters are well drawn with interesting designs and the sets look great. Each character is not memorable and well characterized, but they bring in their own sense of humor and it combines together and is executed perfectly. Each plot adds in new things to stories already seen to keep them fresh and some are unique and original. Camp Lazlo has everything that makes it great to watch. Lovable characters, excellent humor, original plots, and of course Joe Murry made it. I just wish it didn't end so soon and that it would be brought back on the air. Check this show out, it's a summer camp experience you won't want to pass up.moreless
