  • The final two perform for the crown.

This was the top 2 performance show for the crown of Canadian Idol of 2006; Eva Avila and Craig Sharp each performed three songs - they both did "Meant To Fly" (the Idol song for this year), and then each performed their favourite song from the season as well as one new one of their choice.

Eva was great on all three songs. She sang well, worked the camera well, and related to the audience. I didn't notice much difference between her take on the new Idol song and Craig's but I did think that hers was better, mostly because I could actually hear her singing.

Craig... well, hearing him sing was the problem. In two of his three songs, I couldn't hear him. He was drowned out by the band and the backup singers. I don't know why that would be; I imagine they do sound checks before the show, and try to get the levels right. Was he nervous and just not singing loudly enough? I don't know, but it definitely made my choice for who should win an easy one.

Eva should win. She was better during the season and definitely better last night.moreless
  • Eva rocked the Idol stage and Craig followed along, for the best Idol finale on the planet for 2006.

Hands down a great end to this season. With the only full American Idol episode I ever watched being the once where Tayler won, this was 2 or 3 times better.

Craig started off with the new Idol song. This song is much better than the last few, and possibly the best of them yet. Craig came out and I could see him doing it on the radio.

However, when Eva later came out and sang it, not only did Eva make it feel like an Eva song (likely was written for her in the first place), but she made me not worry about hearing it on the radio next Monday.

Craig did another Celine Dion song, and I keep waiting for him to do a guy's song. Supposedly he is a guy, so where's it at? His final song was another chick song, so I guess we got an all girl finale finally.

Eva came out with her first song, but it was a little week. Zack and I are more often in simpatico than not. We agreed on this point.

Eva then rocked us all with her finale. She not only did How Come You Don't Call Me well in her Top 6 performance, but she went through the roof this night. It was an awesome way to end the season, end the show, and show Canada why she is the next Canadian Idol.

Regardless of who wins, Eva will be in the top of the charts very soon.moreless
