  • Getting better ladies. You\'re finally letting the people know that you\'re here to play.

I still prefer the guys this year, although they don\'t sing until the next episode. However, I must admit that the ladies as a group are getting better. Perhaps they are getting better/more confident, or it\'s just that the cream is rising to the top. Either way, they are better than their Top 22 episode.

Having said that, I think it\'s time to say goodbye to Kati. She was on my original Top 10 list, but she has become very underwhelming. I think she looks wonderful and her voice is nice, but there is just something missing. The last two weeks Zack was telling her to be herself. This week she chose a \"better\" song, but it was not what I (or Zack) was looking for. Gone.

Sarah did better this week than last. However, it\'s time for Sarah to say goodnight. I think she could not have done well enough to keep her in this competition, as I just don\'t think she fits into the Idol mold. If she is serious about music, she will find her niche, it just won\'t be as a Top 10 contestant.

Eva is such a cutie, that she will make the Top 10. Although her voice is nice, she has some serious pitch issues. It doesn\'t just bother Zack, it bothers me too. If she had not made the Top 22 and went away to study music more, she could have come back next year and rocked the house down. So, while she will be Top 10, she won\'t win unless her voice does some serious growing up.

Nancy is still, to me, trying to be an Alanis Morissette instead of a Nancy. Her Nancy-isms this week seemed forced and unnatural. She has a nice voice, but she\'s a little too Alanis/nasal for me. She will make the Top 10, but won\'t win the contest.

Finally, Ashley Coles (one of my Monday morning picks to be thrown out) sang very well. At 17, some would have a problem with the dress she picked (upscale escort), but she was very nice to see. Her song was not the best choice, but it was a good choice. She did better than I had thought she would do. We\'ll find out if she makes it to the next week.

As for the rest, I have nothing really to say. They came, they sang, they got comments from the judges.
