  • A very entertaining night overall, but time for Chad to go home.

Disclaimer: I am a fan of INXS. I have been a fan since before several of the Top 10 were born.

When I heard "Cyndi Lauper" and "80's Night" together, I groaned. When I heard that Cyndi was actually going to do a live performance, I got curious. After watching the show, I was rocked!

It turns out that Cyndi is not just a music star, but she is also a music teacher (word is she teaches classical music back home). Tonight, I would say that she showed (to me) that she is by far a better teacher than performer. And that should be saying a lot.

I still don't like the people I don't like, but at least they came out to entertain. All of them, that is, with one exception. Chad.

Chad needs to go after tonight's murder of a classic INXS song. A personal favourite was ruined in part by his warble and by him. I never liked Chad, I'll admit that, but even Chad fans need to recognize that he did a bad job of a good song. It's just too bad that all the little kidlets that will vote for him, none will know that it was a bad job since they will have never heard the original.

Please let Chad leave now. He has enough exposure that he can likely sign a deal quickly enough without winning, so let him go.

Rob kicked it up another notch, and I'm not just saying that as a fan of his (which I am). I am saying that because of the reaction he got from the audience. It was a reaction that a few short weeks ago would never have been expected. He is finally playing to win, instead of just trying to survive. Good job Rob.

Ashley ... your makeup artist should be shot. I will not agree with the judges that it was the best performance of the night, but I will admit it was the best of yours in the competition. Shoot the person that did that to your face.

Eva and Steffie did better than I expected. I think this will be the first results show of the Top 10 without an all girl bottom three. Good job ladies. It may be bad luck to break a mirror, but it is apparently good luck to shove Cyndi.

Chad ... sucked as bad as usual, but will move on. Brandon ... sucked as bas as usual, but will move on. Tyler did better than I expected ... and will move on.

Overall, a very entertaining Idol 80's theme night.moreless
