    • TRIVIA (1)

    • QUOTES (9)

      • Herb: Frank, you can't just tear off the minute you get back.
Cannon: Herb, you're my lawyer, my confessor, and you're beautiful. But five months ago, I bought myself a new car and I haven't had a chance to drive it around the block.

      • Sgt. Magruder: You got some kind of business here in Gallitin?
Cannon: With a week to kill, I'll find some. You know a good place to stay?
Sgt. Magruder: I know 'em all. Depends on what you're looking for.
Cannon: How about the Sands Motel?
Sgt. Magruder: You wouldn't like that.
        Cannon: No, why not?
Sgt. Magruder: Well, that's all run-down. That's clean over on the other side of town.
Cannon: But I got a week to get there.

      • Sgt. Mitchell: Who are you?
Cannon: Frank Cannon. I'm just checking in at the Sands.
Sgt. Mitchell: Aren't you the fella we just got a ticket on?
        Cannon: That's me.
        Sgt. Mitchell: Yeah--yeah, the, uh...
        Cannon: Yes, the fat one.

      • Bar Tough: Who are you, anyway?
Cannon: I am a student of native customs.
Bar Tough: You're new around here, aren't you?
Cannon: I'm luckier than that, I'm just visiting.

      • Cannon: Have you got a chief?
Sgt. Magruder: What do I look like, an Indian? Yes, I gotta a chief.

      • Cannon: Gallitin's as wide-open as a stomach wound.

      • Lt. Redfield: You know, I-I wanted to kill you the other night.
Cannon: Kelly, not a chance. I got eighty pounds on you.

      • Kid: Hi
        Cannon: Hi.
Kid: Hi. How did you get that fat?
Cannon: (laughs and pats his stomach) Wasn't easy.

      • Cannon: When it comes to bluegrass music and a jukebox, I've got a memory like an elephant. No joke intended.

    • NOTES (2)

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Cannon: You're a regular Hamlet, my heart bleeds for you.

Referencing the title character of the play Hamlet (approx. 1600) by William Shakespeare. Hamlet is the Prince of Denmark and seeks revenge on his uncle Claudia for arranging the death of Hamlet's father, the king.

      • Cannon: Which one are you, Holley? The armed robber, the town boss, or just plain Huckleberry Finn?

Referencing the character created by Mark Twain who first appeared in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1884), and then received his own novel in the sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884). Huck is the son of the widowed town vagabond, who beats his son. Best friends with Tom Sawyer, Huck later sets off on his own to escape his father and ends up helping an escaped slave, Jim. The character later went on to appear in Twain's sequels, Tom Sawyer Abroad and Tom Sawyer, Detective.
