Back in games like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, the first 7 Koopalings were much needed by their father, Bowser. Each Koopaling is named after a celebrity and some even resemble that celebrity. Too bad the Koopalings are gone now, replaced by Bowser Jr., who resembles Bowser the most, but is the least creative of Bowser's children.
Listed below is each Koopaling and its character profile.
1. Ludwig "Kooky" Von Koopa - This Koopaling is the oldest and smartest of the Koopalings. He resembles and is named after Ludwig Van Beethoven. Not only does he compose Koopa symphonies, but he also invents machines for his father to use against the Mario Brothers. Unfortunately, they all backfire in some sort of way.
2. Lemmy "Hip" Koopa - Named after Lemmy from the band Motorhead, Lemmy and his brother Iggy (Hop) were usually seen playing pranks together, and they also often finish their sentences together (much like Donald Duck's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie). Lemmy's favorite thing to do is ride a ball.
3. Roy "Bully" Koopa - Named after Roy Orbison, Roy is the toughest koopaling, who can paralyze anyone who stands in his way for a few seconds when he stomps. His nickname describes him as a bully, and he was usually seen beating up his siblings (particularly Morton "Big Mouth" when he talked too much). It is revealed, however, he has a pet rabbit named Pookie, who could possibly be the only thing he doesn't bully.
4. Iggy "Hop" Koopa - Named after Iggy Pop of the Stooges, Iggy was usually seen doing things with his brother Lemmy (Hip) (see above). Although he is younger than his brother, Iggy is taller and wears glasses, particulary because Roy puched him in the eyes so many times when he was young.
5. Wendy "Kootie Pie" O. Koopa - Named after Wendy O. Williams, Wendy is apparently 16 years old, and often whines about everything. Frequently, Bowser would have to execute his schemes just to keep his only daughter pleased. She also displays some envy toward Princess Peach.
6. Morton "Big Mouth" Koopa Jr. - Named after Morton Downey Jr. and Bowser's father, Morton Sr., Morton was more talk than action. He would yap on until an annoyed sibling would tell him to shut up. He also has a star birthmark on his eye, which could be a possible reference to Paul Stanley of the legendary band KISS.
7. Larry "Cheatsy" Koopa - Named after Larry King, Larry Koopa is the second youngest koopaling at age 7. Larry loves to play tennis, but has not yet appeared in any Mario Tennis sports games. His nickname describes him as a cheater, and he would usually cheat just to keep his father pleased.
