Supposedly the wizard from this episode is supposed to be Sypha Belnades, a helper character from Castlevania III, as he mistakes Simon for Trevor, the Belmont who was the hero of that game. If so, the writers didn't do much research; Sypha was actually a woman.

In this episode, as in many throughout the third season (possibly due to the change in hands of animation), Captain N's power pad is drawn rather poorly, looking nothing like an actual Nintendo power pad. For example, in close-ups in this episode, the two circular B and A buttons are drawn atop each other, rather than side-by-side like they should be.
-
And for another, Prince John is the head of Nottingham's villains in this episode. In the Robin Hood game, as in the movie it was based on, the Sheriff is the head honcho of the villains and Prince John is not to be found.
-
If this game was based on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, not much work went into coordinating the game and the episode based on it. For instance, there are no magical arrows with special properties in the game, like the one that turns into a bubble to save Maid Marian from her fall.
-
According to the opening narration to this episode, before Kevin arrived in Videoland, Mother Brain had taken over (hence the episode title "When Mother Brain Rules"). This simply isn't true.
-
When Lana says, "They're my favorite kind," and later when she deflects Viroid's blast with Simon's mirror, Kevin's life force is colored as Kevin normally is.
-
The series continues to call Mega Man's creator Dr. Wright, although it was changed to Dr. Light in Mega Man 2.
-
Watch during the scences of the N-Team inside Kevin's stomach. It seems like aside from that bubble gum Kevin swallowed at the begining of the episode, the only other thing Kevin eats is blue cubes. Lots of blue cubes.
-
After the montage with Duke and Gameboy fighting in Faxanadu, we cut to a scene of Kevin still sick in bed back at the Palace of Power (as the announcer says "Meanwhile, back at the Palace of Power..."). Gameboy is there, also (he is the computer monitoring Kevin's "life force"). After a few fighting scenes which take place within Kevin's body, we are taken back to look in on the fight in Faxanadu. Gameboy is still there with Duke.
-
Spiked Crawlers never had feet, Skull Heads generally don't run, and Taurus monsters could never shoot lasers.
-
When Duke and Gameboy defeat the Skull Head, Duke gets a coin. Skull Head coins are worth 59G. Full Plate Armor, Duke's purchase, costs 5,200G in the game. You do the math.
-
When Viroid's little croney Sedo(sp?) dumps the stomach acid into Kevin's stomach to digest the N-Team, there is CONSIDERABLY more acid in the barrel itself than is poured into Kevin's stomach.
-
In this episode, Simon thinks Wombatman is stupid but in "The Most Dangerous Game Master" it was his favorite show.
-
For some reason in this episode, Kevin (Captain N) uses the 'B' button on his Power Pad to pause. Usually in the show (as well as on the Nintendo Entertainment system itself) the 'Start' button, and occasionally the 'Select' button, are used for this function (in fact, I can't remember a single Nintendo Entertainment System game that ever used the 'B' button to actually pause the game).
Also in this episode, at one point Kevin somehow uses his Power Pad to carry himself (as well as Princess Lana and his dog Duke) through the air over a pit of lava (just before running out of energy and falling) in a floating fashion--a feature which had never been introduced in a previous episode (and was probabaly just made up on the spot to move the story along)--although there is a chance that this was just a really slow, prolonged jump.
-
When he's fighting one of the cats on the pirate ship, Kevin has his Power Pad back in one shot.
-
When the time ship takes off Zelda isn't wearing pants under her skirt.
-
NORTH RIDGE is written on the gym building, which is incorrect. Northridge is one word, not two. Oddly, when Rick says Yo, this better not be some kind of joke! the H and R are close together.
-
When Kevin and Lana gasp, the shoulders of Lana's shirt are pink, rather than white.
-
After Simon turns on the TV, there are two shots of the group sitting on the couch that are really messed up! Two Lanas are shown (one sitting upright and one lying down), and two Simons are shown (one lying down, and another lying down behind him)!
-
When Kevin and Lana are running side-by-side, Lana's missing her eye pupils.
