Hoggish Greedley gets a permit to develop a wetland habitat while destroying some endangered species. When the Planeteers & Captain Planet try to stop Greedley's plan, he has them all sent to jail for trespassing. At the sheriff's office, Rigger disguises himself as a deputy. Greedley decides to let the Planeteers go, but not Captain Planet. Then as the sheriff came back, Greedley told him the Planeteers escaped. The Planeteers decide to investiagte to frame Greedley & free Captain Planet. The sheriff was so glad the endangered species were saved, they named the wetland for Captain Planet & the Planeteers.moreless

    Alright, so Captain Planet wasn't exactly known for it's excellent and clever dialogue (must I even mention the puns?), but it's heart was in the right place. It really sought out to teach kids about environmentalism and what was going on in the world (although it may have been extreme at times). The only problem was, they were these extremely environmentally-sound kids with awesome power rings and a superhero who could basically do whatever needed to be done. Saying it was unrealistic is an understatement.

    What the real problem was the fact that, in most cases, these kids were just running around the world, busting down doors and just doing what they thought was right for the environment, trespassing laws, passports, and private property be darned. What makes this episode so significant is the fact that they actually get CAUGHT by the bad guy (Hoggish Greedly) breaking the law by trespassing land that he has LEGALLY acquired, and are subsequently arrested (including the Captain himself and Su-Chi, for whatever reason). Sure, the Planeteers are then tricked into being "released" and mayhem ensues, where they then again infiltrate Greedly's property to clear their name, but the fact remains that they made it clear that there are laws and even they are prone to breaking them, and they must pay for it.

    Like the Captain said in response to the Planeteers' pleas for him to break free: "I'm a superhero, and superheroes don't break the law. Not on purpose, anyway."moreless
