Animation error: When Wheeler steps out of the Geo-Cruiser to approach Gaia and Ma-Ti as to why they are trying to stop the destruction of the missile base, Ma-Ti can be seen in the back of the Geo-Cruiser.
Although the Planeteers were using Zarms irons fists, their powers had the same sound effects as their rings, except they were followed by a sinister droning sound.
This is the only episode of the series where we see the actual sequence of events that occur in order to summon Captain Planet, from the Planeteers' combining their powers, to Captain Planet disappearing from a crystal matrix (although not his own), to reappearing at the location he is being summoned.
During their misguided attack on the Missile Base, The planeteers are all but ready to take out the NUCLEAR missiles hidden beneath. When gaia and Ma-ti make a protest stand on the base just before wheeler activates his fire gauntlet. Wheeler is shocked and states "I could've Fried her" -Keep in mind that these were Nuclear missiles that wheeler was about to destroy. And also take into account that there were enough on that base to fry TEN islands, if wheeler had gone through with his reckless action, he would've not only have "fried" Gaia and Ma-Ti, but also himself and his teamates. Prehaps this is what Zarm had intended, to have the planet destroyed by it's own defenders in a callous, barbaric manner..
[Zarm, giving the Planeteers his own take on power and responsibility..] Zarm: Might makes right, you must either conquer, or BE conquered!
[Gaia, after the Planeteers reject Zarm and summon Captain Planet, giving Gaia the strength to regain her spritual form] Gaia: You might say seeing you all back together has helped restore my spirit.
Captain Planet: You made your planet a wasteland Zarm, now go live there!
Captain Planet's entrance when summoned: 1st time: emerges from a ball of shimmering light; 2nd time: light effects.
In This episode, we learn Gaia had'nt always been the spirit of the earth, and that Zarm had abandoned the planet long ago in pursuit of "other worlds."
