The Score: The Supreme Commander survives. Spectrum: 10 Mysterons: 3.
Mysteron Reconstructions: Pete (unknown/car crash), Major Brooks (car crash/explodes), Colonel Storm (car crash/killed in SPV crash), 1 military staff car.
Spectrum Losses: 1 SPV. Scarlet is killed but recovers.
Collateral Damage: 1 military staff car, 1 methane tanker, 1 methane tanker passenger, 1 Unitron, 1 command post, 1 conference room and assorted journalists.
This is the first episode, but not the last, where Captain Scarlet's "sixth sense" vanishes for the convenience of the plot. Scarlet sometimes reacts to a Mysteron presence at quite a distance. With Colonel Storm just a couple feet away from him in the SPV, he fails to react. Colonel Storm even comments on the fact but no explanation is given.
The ID card that Scarlet shows to the store manager appears to be Captain Blue's. Compared to Scarlet's ID in "Avalanche", this one has little to no red on it.
Just before he explodes, Brooks addresses the Supreme Commander as "World Commander". This is wrong, as he is the Supreme Commander of Earth Forces, not the whole world itself.
The security scanners apparently scan for "nuclear emissions" from the people passing through. However if a person was emitting any sort of nuclear radiation they wouldn't be walking about and would probably be dead before they got anywhere near the scanners.
The Unitron tank is said to be unmanned, but it is controlled by an operator in the command post. Therefore it's not completely unmanned as it still requires a person to function.
At the conference as Major Brooks explodes, Scarlet brings down protective tubes over himself, the Supreme Commander and Captain Blue, yet leaves everyone else in the room completely exposed to the blast and the resulting hail of falling masonry from the ceiling.
Major Brooks uses the same method of assassination as Captain Brown did in the first episode, yet here the explosion is extremely weak compared to Brown who brought down an entire building. The size f explsion may be related to how long each Mysteron was "primed" before hand; Brown became unresponsive for quite a while before exploding whereas Brooks was still talking until a few seconds beforehand.
Captain Scarlet gets nauseous when he's in the presence of the Mysteron Major Brooks, but he feels nothing when he's with the equally Mysteron Colonel Storm.
Mysterons: This is the voice of the Mysterons. We know you can hear us Earthmen. We have not forgotten. We will destroy the Supreme Commander of Earth Forces within the 24 hours. Supreme Commander you have only 24 hours to live.
Both the Unitron and Point 783 reappeared in a similar episode of The Secret Service entitled "Recall To Service", in which the Unitron as the Aquatank attacked a World Army observation building 'played' by Point 783.
In production order, this is the first appearance of the puppet that becomes Sam Loover in Joe 90, seen here as the Supreme Commander. In this series, the puppet would also play Harrison ("Operation Time"), President Roberts ("The Launching"), Lunar Controller ("Lunarville 7"), Denton ("Place Of Angels"), Rhodes ("Noose Of Ice") and Colgan ("The Inquisition").
The Unitron tank featured here would go on to appear in an episode of Joe 90.
