Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

I absolutely love this show, it is one of my absolute favorite Gerry Anderson marionation works from the 60's. Man he was busy back then, but i'm not complaining, I love them all. Barry Gray's compositions are one of the many aspects, he gave such great music compositions, which made his series oh so more exciting! I love Science Fiction series, despite the lack of humor in this particular one, it's exciting and mysterious. Captain Black in particular is my favorite, despite working against Earth (do I care?). The Mysterons in general though are my favorites I guess. I somewhat feel bad for them as they just wanted "a closer look" and their just fired upon.



All in all, I prefer the original marionation from the 60's, rather than "Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet" in CGI. And of course alot more so than the slaughtered version of Captain Scarlet in the US made as two movies!

Captain Scarlet is the darkest puppet show which Gerry Anderson created. The puppets looked the most life like compared to the other puppet shows he created before Captian Scarlet. Captain Scarlet appealed to me more then the other Gerry Anderson shows as is dark and has the best action sequences compared to the other Gerry Anderson shows.



Captain Magenta is the funniest chracter in the series, especially in the episode - Attack On Cloudbase, which is my favourite episode of the series. I think the episodes were to short as Thunderbirds episodes were 1 hour long, why was Captain Scarlet not hour long like Thunderbirds?

Not sure why I loved this show, but even now at a ripe old age I still love it. I use to watch the Thunderbirds too but Captain Scarlet just really appealed to me. These days I love the simplisity of the show, the special effects are very obvious today, but back when I was little I never noticed the glaring errors, the strings ect ect. Being in the country we missed out on many episodes now with Pay tv I am able to watch them all and in sequence too. The human touch too was good you would see the "human" hand turning a knob or something. Truely unique for its era.

I had a good laugh out of watching Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. In fact, not that the show was particularly humorous but there was something special, something unique that brought a smile to my face when I watched this. Definitely one of the highlights of my television experience this month.
