Episode Summary

Treble Cross
The Chief Test Pilot of Slaton Air Base is killed and reconstructed in a staged car crash by Captain Black, but when two medical doctors pass by, they revive the test-pilots' original body, named Major Gravener.

Following this miracle, the Mysteron Major Gravener attempts to leave Slaton Air Base in a fighter jet armed with a live nuclear warhead, but is stopped in time when the base office is contacted by the hospital who revived the real Gravener.

With Spectrum investigating the Mysterons' latest threat concerning the annihilation of the world capital, Futura City, they are alerted about the bewildering incident and use the real Gravener in a risky operation as the bait to discover if the Mysteron's will fall for the Major Gravener, and spring a net on the wanted Captain Black, even when the Mysteron doppelganger is already dead.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (10)

      • The Score: Futura survives, but Black escapes. Spectrum: 17 Mysterons: 4.

      • Mysteron Reconstructions: Major Gravener (killed for a while in car crash/killed in XK107), Harris (killed in car crash/killed in van crash).

      • Spectrum Losses: None.

      • Collateral Damage: 1 XK107 jet, 1 civilian car, 1 van.

      • According to dialogue, this episode is set on July 10th 2068, the exact same date on which "Winged Assassin" and the last scenes of "Flight to Atlantica" are meant to be set.

      • The red button on Destiny's Angel Interceptor's controls switched sides between the shot of Destiny sitting in the cockpit and the close up of her hands.

      • As Scarlet says "after him" just after his and Blue's car has blocked Black's van leaving Weston, the fence visible through Blue's window is on the wrong side. The right side of the car (Scarlet's side) was closest to the fence when they stopped.

      • Scarlet asks Blue where Weston Airstrip is, but he's the one with the map. He should be telling Blue how to get there as Blue was driving.

      • Colonel White says that the destruction of Futura City "would be a shattering blow to world morale", yet doesn't think about the millions of people that probably live there and who would be killed when the city was destroyed.

      • The nurse at the hospital where Major Gravener is revived appears to be Helga, the Mysteron agent that disappeared with Captain Black in "Model Spy".

    • QUOTES (1)

      • Mysterons: This is the voice of the Mysterons. We know that you can hear us Earthmen. We intend to deal another devastating blow. We will destroy the world capital, Futura City. Futura will be razed to the ground.

    • NOTES (1)

      • The Dr. Mitchell puppet would go on to star as Matthew Harding in The Secret Service, but not before appearing in "Place of Angels" and four episodes of Joe 90.
