This cartoon has a very special place in my heart.

This show will get you hooked up on its soccer games and the characters' lives...

I used to watch this cartoon everyday day when I like 7 or 8 (there were old versions of this anime). It was like a must-be in my daily childhood life.

The reason Captain Tsubasa is very special to me is that I was in love with the main character (captain Tsubasa).. In love as in "I'm going to marry him one day" love, LOOL, this may seem very weird but it's true, i was very fond of him, and though i was only 8 but i considered him my charming prince. Now OF COURSE I got over him :P hehehe... but if i saw it on TV, I can't help but sitting down and watching it, i guess it has something to do with childhood memories...
  • Tsubasa is a boy who plays football very well. His shots would be awesome.I like the way he and his friends like toro, hyuga and jun play football.Thier shots would be incredible. I like this series very much

I get a funny feeling whenever I watch Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 on tv. It sends a chill up my spine in a way that I can't quite describe. This time, it's no exception. When I picked this up during my visit to Blockbuster, I knew I was in for a treat as I have been so many times felt before. I was right! If you haven't gotten this yet, beg, steal, buy or do whatever you need to get it. You won't regret it.
  • Captain Tsubasa.... i have no words to describe it. is just, one of the best show.

Captain Tsubasa: road to 2002 is the sequel of the original Captain Tsubasa and Captain Tsubasa J. in this new sequel, the first 36 episodes are just remakes of Captain Tsubasa episodes but shorter. The new episodes begin when Tsubasa leaves Brazil and goes to Europe. after that, He and the rest of his friends are called to play as the new japanese team. they play against Holland, but the game ended in a tie. Kojiro Hyuga goes to Italy to follow th same road of Tsubasa. Tsubasa decides to stay in Spain and play in Cataluna FC. and Genzo stays in Germany where he plays with Grunwald. But all of they have one goal and dream: Win the World Cup.
  • Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 is really A-MA-ZING! If everything on television these days are as good as Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002, I don't think I'll ever remove myself from the television set.

Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 is really A-MA-ZING! If everything on television these days are as good as Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002, I don't think I'll ever remove myself from the television set. Whoever came up with the idea behind Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 is a genius!I am very interested to see this movie again and again.

  • We have Captain Tsubasa and the J remake in the past, but do we want to see it once again? Read this review and judge it for yourself!

And don't get me wrong, I am a Captain Tsubasa fan, but watching the same things once again is quite boring.

The first 19 episodes of the series are a remake of the original Captain Tsubasa anime (which featured 128 episodes), but many things were changed and/or adapted, making this a lot less interesting than the original, as the series now seems to give a lot more credit to Tsubasa, making Hyuga sound just like a bad guy, and making almost the same thing to the opponents that this main character has to face.

Then, you will see 11 episodes which are the remake of the OAV series "Shin Captain Tsubasa". This time not much was changed from the original one, and even some new scenes were added, but sometimes the drawing of the characters isn't as good as we could want (like in the rest of this 52 episodes...) and that will disappoint the fans of those OAVs which are considered to be the best parts of the series.

Following this, you will see 3 episodes that narrate the story of the confrontation between Tsubasa and "soccer robot" Carlos Santana, with sequences adapted not only from Captain Tsubasa J but also from the World Youth manga.

Finally, in the episodes 36 up to 52 (the last one of this series) you will finally see new episodes. Tsubasa will now be playing in Barcelona, and you will get to see his path (along with Hyuga's path on Juventus and the story of more of his team mates) from the point he first joins the club up to the moment where he gets to play on the official team. In this section there are 4 or 5 nice episodes, but most of them are terribly boring, with large chat sequences that usually didn't appeared in this series.

Fans may enjoy some episodes of the series, but watching it all is simply not worth it.
