This is definately one of my most favourite Magical Girl Anime of all time. This is probably one of the most original Magical Girl shows I've ever watched. I grew up watching CardCaptors, the English dub, until watching it in the original Japanese version on youtube, and I fell in love with the show.
So, this show is about a girl named Sakura Kinomoto who is your average 4th grader who is good at gym class but hates maths. She comes home one day from school and hears a strange noise in the basement where she comes across a mysterious book, full of magical cards. She picks up the first card which reads, "The Windy" and says the name and then a gust of wind appears and blows the rest of the other cards away. Kero, the guardian of the book, is awakened, who makes Sakura the CardCaptor, whose duty is to collect the various missing Clow Cards by using a magical staff known as the Sealing Wand. With the help of Shaoran Li, a transfer student who appears later and falls in love with Sakura, Meiling Li, Sharoan's cousin, and Tomoyo, Sakura's best friend who makes Sakura costumes to wear and videos her battles with the Clow Cards, Sakura fights the Clow Cards and seals them away in order to prevent an unknown catastrophe that will fall upon the world.
I loved the fights with the Clow Cards and I particularly did not hate any of the Clow Cards, though there were some strange ones like the Move, which just moves objects. I love the characters in this show, especially Sakura. She's one of my most favourite Magical Girls. I loved the background music, much better than the music you got in the dub. It's very Magical Girl-ish, and just fits perfectly. I loved the animation in this show, from Sakura flying on the Sealing Wand to her summoning the Sealing Wand to her using or transforming a Clow Card. I loved how the show was not always repetitive, like there was always a catch to the cards; for example, in episode 4, Sakura finds two Clow Cards in the house but forgets to sign her name on them and they go loose in the house. Another episode was episode 6 where the Illusion Card appears and Sakura thinks it may be her deseased mother. The plots were creative and good, the characters were cute and charming, the music was fitting and the artwork was great.
Overall, this was a very good Magical Girl anime. If you're into Magical Girl anime, ten this is a really good show for you to watch.
