I have a question that I ask myself so often with all those great shows that suffer an untimely death without any sort of conclusion: Why can't the creators of those shows like Carnivale, Deadwood and so on not just continue their stories in a series of books? That wouldn't need any tv-station and wouldn't cost much.........and good books can be almost as good as a great show as long as the story is great...

So why for example not write three Carnivale books according to the three planned chapters? The first just by putting the story of the two seasons in a book and then the other two books with the two never filmed chapters to conclude the series...

They talked about finishing it in comic book form like season 8 of Buffy, but I have heard nothing of late and I think the idea was scratched

That is a great idea. Im not much of a reader however I would pick up a book if it would bring some closure to the Carnivale cliff hanger, Deadwood, Jericho (eventhough it was kinda wrapped up), and even the short lived Surface. Its a crime not to finish up a story.Maybe is a money issue butcould you imagine if Lost just went off the air. or Sopranos just ends with a black screen....errr never mind.

Fantastic idea! You know that Daniel Knauph has got to have at least an outline for how the show was gonna play out. Just give that to an author and BAM! I'll be a happy man.

Now we just gotta get this idea to Knauph.

I actually think Carnivale would be better as a book than as a tv show. People tends to be more tolerant of a slower pace in a book than in a tv show.
