This episode is notable because of a major differentiation between the anime and the manga. In the manga, the mastermind was an agent of the organization Jimmy/Conan was after, and killed Michelle. In the anime, the writers, in a misguided attempt to downplay the organization in the first season, changed it. The show later added a similar case retroactively to correct this error.
