I think it was a good idea to portray Casper in CGI. It adds a certain uniqueness to it.
So the basic idea is that Casper has been sent to 'Scare School' in order to learn how to terrify 'fleshies'. A good idea in my book and it is executed quite well. Casper, who is still the kind-hearted soul as he always is in THIS series, makes two friends, an Egyptian Mummy and a Zombie and makes an enemy of a Vampire. But I would have to say I personaly like the two evil Head Masters, Alder and Dash ('Balderdash', get it?)
Of course, unlike the Tim Burton movies, the movie and series is more light-hearted and has been made for a young audience and that's perfectly understandable. There is not much black humor of course but Casper can work without that. The humor is actually well-tailored.
Also, as it is a new series, over time it may win over more hearts and may leave its mark in Casper history.
So in conclusion, I would say give the movie and the series a watch over. It is a more light-hearted version compared to the Tim Burton movies, but it still works for Casper. Children will probably find it entertaining, adults MAY as well, I suppose it is just a matter of taste.moreless
