Another cop show doing a haunted/Halloween episode. Great.

No, but I think that Castle did a good job tonight, both with the main storyline and the sub-plot with Castle continuing to learn on the job about being a father. Few shows have the heart of both family and law that this one does so it always has that working for it.

The writing is still on a bit of a downward spiral, but it was not that bad a show overall. It progressed quickly. Some amusing material here and there, and a nice twist to end it all. Still better than most episodes this season.moreless
  • Another OK episode, writers where are you??

    8.0
So by the promo this looked like it was going to be fun and comical but it wasn't really either. Not to say the episode itself wasn't a nice change to go paranormal and not too way out like the super hero one a few weeks back, but it still lacked a lot of good energy. I think the series needs to get back to the fun and light hearted otherwise all the talking can get a bit tiresome.

The episode had some great sets this week though so props to the art dept. The mix of Ghostbusters theme was great to add and those little sparks were there for Castle and Beckett, well to be honest more Beckett than Castle. Lets hope Castle can show more flirty and charming looks in the next few eps otherwise I will believe he has lost complete interest in Beckett. Shame about Esposito and Lanie as the writers didn't even give them a chance. The actual concept of the murder was great and that has been the case throughout the season, just a shame the inbetween catching the murderer and the murder itself there seems to be too much babble and not enough excitement.

OK heres to hoping next weeks episode brings excitement as I'm getting a bit bored this season. Bar Rise and last weeks all seemed wasteful and forgettable episodes to me.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • About at minute 8:35 into the episode you can see a police officer delivering papers to Det. Esposito. The officer is played by Josh Hopkins.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Castle: Listen if you're not scared, just say it?
      Beckett: No.
Castle: Come on, you know you want to.
Beckett: I don't want to say it Castle.
      Castle: For me please.
Beckett: I ain't afraid of no ghosts!

    • Castle: (to Alexis) I can promise you this. If two people believe in something, really believe, anything, even the impossible, is possible.

    • Beckett: Why are you so determined to find the supernatural in all this?
Castle: Why are you so determined not to?
Beckett: You know what? I am just following the evidence wherever it may lead, and as a cop, I'm going to consider every possible worldly explanation.
Castle: And what if there is none?
Beckett: Well, then I'm open to the alternatives.
      Castle: (laughs) You? Skepticus Maximus?

    • Beckett: So what's our next step? Are we gonna stake out the house, wait for the demon to show up, zap him with our proton pack?
Castle: That's not a real thing, you know, that real ghost hunters use.
Esposito: Real ghost hunters? Isn't that a contradiction in terms, bro?

    • Castle: So... if Barry's not our guy, I think it's time we revisit the possibility that our killer's a...
Beckett: If you say ghost, I'm sending you home.
      Castle: Apparition-American.

    • Beckett: (about the blood spatter) Some of it should've landed on the killer.
Castle: Yet every drop of it landed on the floor. This spray is completely unobstructed.
Lanie: Exactly. It doesn't make sense.
Castle: Unless the blood passed right through the killer.
Lanie: Are you saying a ghost did this?
      Beckett: Please don't encourage him.

  • NOTES (4)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Beckett: Maybe Shaggy will keep Scooby out of trouble.

Kate is referring to the famous mystery-solving Scooby-Doo cartoon series that still airs today. The show first aired on CBS in 1969. Scooby-Doo is a talking Great Dane and Shaggy is Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, his owner.

    • Beckett: (to Castle) I ain't afraid of no ghosts.
An allusion to the lyrics of the theme song for Ghostbusters.
