James Hibberd of The Hollywood Reporter announced that ABC has renewed Castle for a second season. No word on whether it's 13 eps or a full season, and no official confirmation from ABC (they're staying mum on all questions prior to the up-fronts this Tuesday), but I'm confident it's legit. He's rarely wrong.

This is good news. ABC who is now famous for bailing on good shows too early has finally made a ballsy move for the right reason. Although I don't see castle making a 10 year run, I still say there is plenty to flush out in terms of character and plot. Nathan is a good actor that has been overdue for a role like this, so hopefully how ever long the run, it exposes his to better opportunity down the road.

Great news. Not a big shocker here, considering that somehow Dollhouse, Better Off Ted and Scrubs also are being renewed. But Castle is a nice cynical diversion.

I follow Nathan Fillion on Twitter, and this was his latest tweet concerning the renewal of Castle "I can't remember the last time I had a second season of ANYTHING. I don't know if I remember what to do. Step one: go to Canada. Relax."

This is great news!! I'm excited for a second season!!

It only got picked up for 13 insted of a full 22, but considering it only had 10 this season and it wasn't quite a smash hit, a 13-episode pickup makes sense. If the first few episodes back do well, I imagine it'll get a back-nine pickup pretty quickly.

YES!! I'm so very happy to hear there's going to be a second season!! I agree; seems Nathan has had bad luck when it comes to getting a second season of any of his shows. "Firefly" should have gone on for many seasons as that was the finest show in creation. "Castle" is my second favorite of Nathan's work and a show I've come to really love so I'm ecstatic!

I have not enjoyed a who done it show this much since A. Christie Murder She Wrote, it is a relief that it is coming back, but please make it a full season. Short season like this first one leaves you yearning for more.

Definitely great news, I really enjoy Castle. It is the only crime show that really interests me, probably because it has a lot of comedic elements to it; unlike CSI who's seriousness literally bores me to tears.

Anything Nathan touches just seems to be gold IMO and I'm surprised that he and the show are not more popular.

I'm so glad to see that ABC got at least one right. I just wish they had given some of the other shows a longer chance.

Good news! This show is rather addictive-- the witty repartee between Castle and his daughter is akin to that between Lorelei and Rory on Gilmore Girls. And the connection between the writer and the cop is rather sizzling. Look forward to see that develop. Can't wait to season two. I know this is ABC's version of The Mentalist (outsider helps cops solve crimes), and while I do like that one, this one has an extra spark that has launched it to be one of my favourites. Thanks ABC for not cancelling a new show I really like (for once!!)
