It's actually season 4 and it's not Castle's fault and the doctor is no longer Beckett's Boyfriend.
Season 4 starts with Beckett in surgery and castle is in the waiting room awaiting the result of the surgery. Let's just hope that Beckett comes out of surgery with flying colours and continue working with Castle to finally put her mother's case to rest. In my opinion, I think the shooter is a friend or enemy of Beckett's father.
If you remember, Kate's dad is Ex Army and he may have made some enemy's while in the Army and has now figured out who did actually kill his wife and the murderer has possibly made a deal with him to keep quiet, but he has gone back on his word and told his daughter the info he knows about his wife's death. I think in season 4, I believe that Castle and Beckett will eventually get together and possibly get engaged.
Patiently waiting the final hours to see the conclusion to last season's finale... Have been avoiding the spoilers as much as possible, only have a few headlines here and there to mess with my head and hopes. Can't wait to see!

This looks to be an interesting season. They're definitely starting it out on a much darker tone. The fact is while I do believe Beckett can get over being shot I seriously doubt she could get over Castle not telling her everything. That plan is eventually going to blow up in Castle's face, especially if he does eventually have to steer her away from the investigation. The truth is even before getting shot, the case of her mother's murder was to Beckett what a bottle of scotch is to a hardcore alcoholic. After getting shot... no way that obsession doesn't go deeper and if the person she's closest to withholds evidence from her...
A great start to another exciting new season of Castle! I wonder if Beckett's mother's murder will be a much more recurring theme this season than in the past when it only came up a couple of times each season. Kind of hard to ignore it now that it's become the focus of the show. Regardless, I'm looking forward to next Monday already!

I agree with you about this first episode of season 4. My biggest deception was Beckett, meanly the way she treated Castle, first at the hospital when she mentionned she had a black out after the shooting, and after when she told him that she don't whant to see him for a few days and took so long to get in touch with him. When she came back to work, she was completely ignorant about Castle job for those 3 months, she didn' even care abouthim.The fact that she didn't call him back, mean thatIF Esposito and Ryan do not tell her every thing Castle did during that period, probably she would have ingnore him totaly for longer time.
Is it the way to treat the person who helped you the most in your job, the one which is always therefor you no matter what , the one who make you smile and laugh when you need so, the one who almost save your life ? After all those months, she still hidding herself behind her mother's dead, the WALL will be there as long as she will not have find the killer. What will happen if she never do so?When she was with her PSY just before the end, sheclearly said that she remembered every thing about the shooting and that she lied to every one when she said that she was black out.
I understand her at some point to protect herself, but she at least should have let Castle know that she was not completely black out after the shooting, and that she hear thing. For me, she was selfish a lot and realy realy cheap about Castle, where is the HONEST Beckett of the previous years, is she dead with the shooting? Maybe we will see her back at the end of season 4 or so............
For me, she is very very lucky that CASTLE LOVE her so much and that he will do anything for her, but I don't thinkshe might do the same for him, from what we saw yesterday.That's my opinion only and I will respect other's one for sure. Ultimately it is just a show.......

So, the bad guy is a congressman.
They should just investigate from the opposite direction. Who worked in NY in law enforcement, started a political career shortly after getting paid and got really powerful!?
Just in case anyone is interested the rtings are in.
Season 4 premiere episode was watched by 13.60 million viewers and scored a 3.3 in the 18-49 age group. It came second in its timeslot being beat by Hawaii 5-o which got 12.00 million viewers and got a 3.4 in the 18-49 age group.#
Castle was up 22% verse last season premiere which got 11.17 million viewers and a 2.8.
Castle is going up in the ratings and I hope the series can keep above a 3.0.
