The show is doing well. It's not in any danger of cancellation in the near future. It's all but certain for season five, in the very least.

It's an amazing show. So much good chemistry between all the main cast and a great balance of fun and serious.

Are you sure it's safe for a season 5? Good news for sure if so - it is a sure way to end my mondays on a high note

Castle does very well when it has the DWTS lead in. The ratings and viewership has been lower without the DWTS lead in and has been lower when it doesn't have DWTS before it. So don't worry, Castle is safe. Its the same each season.

Maybe its because noone actually knows when the hell its next going to be on. yet again american scheduling is really c***. I'm in the uk and do not understand the need for these 2-3week mini breaks between episodes. maybe someone can enlighten me. and its not just castle im currently looking forward to the new episode of ncis but have no clue as to when thats next available i'm wishing it's tomorrow but im not getting my hopes up. CORRECTION: just looked it up and the new episode of ncis is next tuesday (the 7th) that's a full month since the last episode WHY????

Part of it is the holidays and part of it is that TV shows usually save their strongest episodes for February because it is one of three times called "sweeps" during the television season. The other two times are in November and May. Also networks aren't airing as many episodes a season as they used to. Average season is 22 episodes, probably, and you have to stretch those episodes over 9 months. That leads to a lot of breaks and hiatuses.
