  • The case was interesting and had enough twists to keep the viewers one step behind it, the character interaction and the humor were as amazing as always and there were moments in it that were simply delightful. [ATTENTION: SPOILERS IN REVIEW]

This was definitely one of the best Castle epis this season!

The team investigates the murder of a DA known for his intolerant stance against criminals, who turns out to be implicated in a prostitution ring with call girls. Financially wrecked after his divorce, he prosecutes the boss of the call girl ring and makes a deal with him, to exchange his client list and resources for a very reduced sentence. So the DA takes over the business and runs a parallel life, until he is thrown out of the roof of a building. i loved the plot twist with Scarlet and how she had Castle and everyone else fooled, playing the terrified, abused girl routine. Obviously her beauty had something to do with her dazzling Castle, but mostly she was a good judge of character, she knew Castle would want to help a damsel in distress. It's certainly part of his charm but sometimes, it's also part of his naiveté. I figured out Scarlet was lying a little after she and Castle had left for the hospital, the whole routine was very believable but the fact remained, the whole impression Castle and Beckett formed of the case was based on Scarlet's word. There was no solid proof that things were as she presented them to be. Look at them from a different angle, they might as well be completely different.

I also loved the scenes with Jessup, especially in the car where Castle was wearing the handcuffs and Jessup was trying to teach him how to unlock them. When Beckett realized he was wearing them and went "I'm not even gonna ask", it was totally hilarious. Also, the scene with the DA's brother-in-law where he has to invite a call girl, and Castle says "tell her to wear something sexy. No reason not to enjoy the interview"... There were dozens of great lines in this epi, I'd need pages and pages to list them all, so I'm gonna stop here but you get the picture. Alexis is starting to see Beckett as a maternal figure, asking her for advice and so on. I've read that Alyssa Milano is going to guest the show as Beckett's competition for Castle, so that should be interesting to see. I wonder which side Alexis and Martha are going to take in the upcoming "battle".

Another pleasant surprise in this epi was the fact that the investigation started off as the murder of an impeccable, exemplary law enforcement officer and it ended up presenting a totally different side of him, one of corruption, deceit and hypocrisy. There's two sides to every coin and sometimes what seems extremely perfect might be too perfect to be true.

Sorry Castle fans, but i found this one really lacking. it was so obvious - once again, as is often the case in this series - who was the main villain. Sometimes the Castle/Beckett banter and/or the Castle home life makes up for a dull murder plot but this time, they were about on par interest-wise with the uninteresting plot. I suppose the most interesting thing for me was that Castle actually made an uncharacteristically big mistake getting snowed by Scarlett and doing something dumb in the process. hoping for better next time. When are we gonna get back to Beckett's mom's case file??
  • An A.D.A. Buckley, who has a good reputation, is killed. In fact, Buckley has taken over an escort service and is killed by one of the girls (Scarlet Price) who takes over the escort service for herself.

This is my first time writing a review, so here it goes..... At first I found "Castle" to be a good, but not outstanding addition to the ABC lineup. However, through the season, the characters in this series have been allowed to develop in their own quirky, yet believable way, and I have grown to enjoy the regular actors in this as a result.

More specifically tonight's episode, "Love me Dead", featured a guest actor named by J.B.Smoove. Mr. Smoove's characterization of the small-time criminal, Norman Jessup, was natural, entertaining, and engaging. In the short time he was on screen, he added an interesting and complex character to a series already rich in interesting and complex characters.

In addition, Jessup had an immediate rapport with the principal character, Rick Castle. For example, note the scene in the back of the cruiser when Jessup removes his handcuffs and then tries to teach Castle how to do it. I believe that Norman Jessup could easily be written in as a recurring character on this series, playing the slightly shady counterpoint to Castle. I hope we see him again soon.
  • An ADA is thrown off the top of of a parking garage and Beckett, Castle, and the team must figure out what and why this happened. Alexis has dinner with Beckett giving a lot of angst to Castle about what is going on.

A solid episode with some good twists and turns and one of the best episodes of the season. This show is producing one good episode after another.

We have a murdered Assistant District Attorney recently divorced who works fourteen hours a day, an intern who also is a high class Escort, a former felon who has been released because of circumstantial evidence who is a lock specialist, the dead DA's brother-in-law, a Reverend who is used as an alibi, and finally a suspicious criminal who has managed somehow to avoid going to prison. Let's just say there's a lot going on and there are a number of excellent twists and turns in the story. Some expected and some not so much. On the personal front, Castle trying to keep his cool father reputation gives Alexis the space to discuss her secret with Beckett without prying. Of course in the end the secret was not such a terrible thing. Castle has a tremendous amount of personal anxiety for no reason as his imagination and that of his detective friends goes wild.

Excellent episode that was well written and acted. In a positive move they are keeping the Beckett/Castle chemistry to a minimum so when something finally really happens I think the fans will be surprised and pleased. The show is on a roll. Thanks for reading...
