  • Very cool episode – vampires, werewolves and an 18 year old murder.

Nathan Fillion dressed as Mal Reynolds!!! A nod to our beloved Firefly! He still looks so good in that outfit!

Love the whole vampire culture and it's fascinating that people actually take it to this extent in real life – actually drinking blood… and it's legal. Very cool storyline – the 'vampire' who burns in the sun, the werewolf. Loved when Castle showed Morlock the killer, that was just freaky.

The 18 year old murder tied to the present murders, Matthew having memories of the mother he saw murdered at 2 years old – very awesome story.

I so love Castle's relationship with Alexis and she is so responsible. He absolutely did the right thing calling Paige's parents – if I was her mother, I'd want to know. Alexis' costume was beautiful.

Castle knows how to throw a party – his costume as Poe was great. Beckett's stunt was hilarious. "I'm giving you the bird." then hands her the raven.

This was an awesome episode – freaky, fascinating and tragic, with an old murder to solve.
  • Good episode and a great reference to Fillion's role as Captain Reynolds in "Firefly".

Good episode and a great reference to Fillion's role as Captain Reynolds in "Firefly".

However, like any TV episode that revolves around vampires, this one (like all others) misses the mark. "Vampire" names such as "Crow" need to be shot down. The writers should look more into the real life culture rather than Hollywood's version of what vampires are.

Whoever the artist is in this episode is top notch. But props to the costume designers in this episode. They're all fun and imaginative. Too bad not all Halloween parties are like this.

The raven is kinda creepy. Gotta love it! The sexual tension between Castle and Beckett grows!
  • Classic Castle Capers!

There are many reasons to love this show. It has the right amount of procedural stuff, family drama stuff all thrown together with bits of humor. For this example it was exemplified through many little moments such as the witty repartee between Castle and Alexis towards the beginning of the episode regarding the first costume he tried on. As a Firefly fan, it was a good callback to all of Nathan Fillion's charm throughout the years. The whodunit of the show played itself well too. The vampire theme was used respectfully. Overall, this show is TV at it's best. It's interesting enough where you care about all the characters but at the same time it doesn't take itself sooo seriously where the audience does have that "suspension of disbelief" totally intact.
  • i really enjoyed this episode

this episode was pretty good. i enjoyed it very much with the occasional laugh. this episode was mysterfying if thats how you put it lol. what i mean though is that this episode kept me guessing at who could if done this. and this halloween episode was funny to. and i really enjoy how everyone on the team can get a long so well and they can almost bee personal with each other i forgot which one brought this up but he said he had a girlfriend who was all in this vampire cult and he said she wanted to have sex with him in a coffin i thought that was funny and when castle was carving pumpkins with his daughter and castle his hold up a carving knife and then he starts laughing really creepy lol. this episode was really intertaining i liked it very much
  • Castle keeps getting better and better..

Gotta tell you folks, Castle is by far one of the best shows that's been done in the last couple of years.

Interesting, fun and with that nice chemistry between the main duo.

The case, as always, had its twists and and kept me watching til the end.

Sad, sad story for the dad but sometimes that's the way things are. In real life, people are really capable of terrible actions.

Sometimes I wonder if Castle and Beckett will ever get it on. Probably not, otherwise the sex tension will fade away and the show'll lose some of it's magic.. kind of a Bones deja vú.. we all want the duo to be together but that won't happen anytime soon..

Anyways, great show, wonderful episode.. keep'em coming!!

    Cheers!!
  • A brilliantly done episode of Castle with supurb acting, great storytelling, and wonderful treats for fans of the main cast.

An episode like this is the reason that I watch Castle. Not only am I a Nathan Fillion fan, but I've become very much a Castle (as in the show, not only the show's lead, the eponymous Richard Castle) fan as well.

From the very first scene, this episode appealed to me on a number of levels. First and foremost, as other reviewers have mentioned, there's Malcolm Reynolds in a slightly redder brown coat! What is quite as awesome is the tongue-in-cheek reference to how long ago the character had been played. The interplay between Fillion and Molly Quinn, the actress who portrays Alexis Castle, is pure gold.

The story itself is full of interesting twists and turns, and presented an otherwise used police procedural plot and put a fresh coat of paint on it. Making an already good thing that much better was several last minute reveals that made the pieces fall together perfectly.

Some plot twists I found interesting were the crazed homeless vampire that actually burned in the sun, and the fact that most of the clues behind the plot were based on repressed memories of the initial murder victim expressed through his art work. One of the other reasons I like this show so much is its kind treatment of counter-cultures.

Finally, the last few scenes of the episode brought what would have been a 9.5 episode right up to a 10. What many reviewers seem to have been missing in this last scene is the recostuming of Jon Huertas (Esposito) as SGT Antonio "Poke" Espera and Seamus Dever (Ryan) as who I think is Dr. Ian Devlin of General Hospital.

Overall, it was a tight plot with supurb acting and three awesome callbacks to previous characters.
  • Captain Malcolm Reynolds lands in NY and goes undercover as a novelist, Rick Castle. Then there are some vampires and werewolves about, it's Halloween.

How could you not like this episode, will you might if you thought it should be too realistic. This is awesome fluff. I appreciate the Firefly tie in (sniff sniff - a show gone too soon. "Move on" as Alexis says).

I really like the strong parenting message.

As Halloween approaches, Castle and Beckett are called to a graveyard where the body of a young man sporting vampire fangs has been discovered with a wooden stake driven through his heart. Their investigation takes them deep into the heart of New York's underground vampire fetish community, where they learn that the motive for the victim's murder may be hiding within the pages of the graphic novel he was writing before his death.
  • A vampire is killed in a cemetery and Beckett and Castle must find the killer. Wolf man and a woman who died eighteen years before becomes part of the mystery as well. Castle has his annual Halloween party and its a party not to be missed.

A really great episode with tremendous twists and turns in the story line. Also a couple of excellent side stories to make things interesting.

The way they put everything together at the end was fantastic. You had to appreciate the twist that was the final one. Putting together the drawings with the woman and the supposed crazed lunatic. What a stroke of brilliance. Or maybe they spend too much time dealing with these kind of people!

Wasn't Castle's little beach tale about when he was young creepy and a little bit mean at the same time? He really got Beckett good.

The side stories really brought something to the overall theme as well with the girls and their party and the egg and its final situation. Interesting stuff with some interesting messages.

Overall a very well done episode with a little bit of a cheesy ending at the party. I would highly recommend this Halloween tale to be seen again and again. Thanks for reading...
  • Wonderful fun, as always.

Expertly and subtlely placed nods to all things "Mal", to the spirit (sorry!) of the season, to the usual fun, and to a pretty darn good story to go with.

What I really liked about this episode was the full court press in writing for all the characters. A cast that gels this way, is always in the consciousness of the viewer and the writer, just makes a more successful series because there is lots to invest in: Just ask NCIS...

Beckett's costume was a bit anti-climactic: I was expecting some sexy thing, and judging by the way Castle nearly...um...choked his chicken...(apologies to Mr. Poe for the liberties with his literary signature!) I guess he was expecting the same. Nice touch that it was not so obvious, and well in keeping with the theme of the party. However, Castle's train of thought (notice: "thought"...singular!) becomes more and more obvious...
  • Great epi, tons of fun with many fond memories from the past, and a very interesting case!

Loved the Firefly reference in the beginning, especially Alexis' line: "Didn't you wear that 5 years ago"? I guess it's time for us to move on along with Fillion, since he has a new part now which is just as exciting and charming as the old one. The team is investigating a murder supposedly related to the vampire culture, but is in fact an old family drama. Subtle references to Beckett's mother's case throughout the episode make her relationship with Castle more clear. At the beginning of the season she was fairly angry at him for meddling in her personal affairs, now she seems to understand he meant well, and is even comfortable discussing the issue with him with a tint of humor. That's nice to see. Loved the scenes at the vampire club, at Crow's home as well as the discovery of Morlock - reality and fiction blend in more ways than one, and things aren't always as black and white as they seem. It turns out the scary guy was in fact trying to protect the victim, and his stepmother was the one who killed him. I also liked his drawings and the whole artistic theme around his dead mom, as well as the psychiatrist's interpretation of it.

It seems taking care of a kid, even an egg-kid, isn't as easy as it seems at first. But Alexis has good people around her, who will undoubtedly help her establish a firm sense of responsibility. Vampires, Lycans, Brad Pitt, fangs, Beckett in a Halloween party, Castle dressed as Poe, what else could one ask? Amazingly good epi.
  • Mal is back, if only for a scene or two!

This is by far my favorite episode of Castle ever. In addition to the always captivating storyline, they also managed to work in references to a few of my favorite things: Firefly (so nice to see him in the tightpants again), Underworld ("Lycans have been at war with the vampires since Lucians murder), and Interview with a Vampire (the bit about Brad Pitt's fangs). The way his daughter talked about his Tightpants costume was brilliant. "Didn't you wear that 5 years ago? Don't you think it's time to get over it now?" Fantastic. I loved it. This is an episode I'll watch over and over again, even if just for those little parts!
