This episode did not air on Nick USA but it had aired on Nick UK and Nick AU.
Dog being visited by three meat spirits at night is a reference to Charles Dickens's novel "A Christmas Carol", where the character, Ebenezer Scrooge was visited by three ghostly spirits who show him the errors of his ways.
During the sequence when CatDog and their parents, especially their dad, the Frog crosses the road, the animation turns into a graphic imitation of the famous 1980's video game "Frogger." The object of the video game is to guide Frogger across the road and then a river safely without getting him run over by cars or trucks, or having him fall into the water.
The character appearing in this episode, Johnny Meatsead, is a reference to the famous 19th century American folk hero, Johnny Appleseed. In legend, Johnny Appleseed traveled across the wilderness of the USA planting apple seeds that turned into apple trees. Thus the name, Johnny Appleseed.
