My Life as a Teenage Robot

My Life as a Teenage Robot

    Follow
    Nickelodeon (ended 2009)
While most kids think their own problems are the end of the world, there's one girl whose problems really are the end of the world. My Life as a Teenage Robot is the story of Jenny, a super-powered robot with a super-sensitive teenage heart. Her primary function is to protect the planet from certain disaster, but, like all teenagers, she has her own ideas about how she would like to live. Defending the Earth has become a mundane chore, and she would rather do more exciting things like go to high school and be allowed to drive the family car. My Life as a Teenage Robot, a spin-off from Nickelodeon's hit Oh Yeah! Cartoons (under the name My Neighbor Has A Teenage Robot), was created by Rob Renzetti and is executive produced by Renzetti and Fred Seibert. This show is the third of three spinoffs of Oh Yeah! Cartoons, the others being ChalkZone and Fairly OddParents. Characters: Global Robotic Response Unit XJ9, aka Jenny Wakeman - XJ9 is just like any other robot designed to defend the planet. She's powerful, confident, clever, brave...oh yeah, and she's gotta be home by 9! Jenny, as XJ9 likes to be called, is spunky, dramatic and prone to major mood swings (sound familiar?). She's also obsessed with pop stars, teen magazines and fitting in with the cool kids. Just like a regular teenager, right? Well, yeah...if regular teenagers were 6 feet tall and made of metal! XJ9's creator (a.k.a. mom) is constantly reminding her of her planetary responsibilities, but Jenny's tired of saving the world and just wants to hang out with her friends. What's a teenage robot to do? Bradley "Brad" Carbunkle - Brad is the boy next door. He's Jenny's closest neighbor and her best friend. Brad's not really interested in the stuff his friends at school are into, and wishes he were more like Jenny. He loves a good adventure and he's dying for a chance to explore the world outside high school. To Jenny, Brad's the reference point to all things "teenaged." He's the gatekeeper of "cool." Only Brad gets bored talking about all that lame teenager stuff and jumps at every chance to get in on Jenny's universe-saving superhero action. Guess the grass really IS greener on the other side of the fence... Tucker "Tuck" Carbunkle - Unlike his older brother Brad, Tuck is suspicious of the unknown and likes to be surrounded by familiar things and faces. He has a whole assortment of hidden fears and anxieties (let's just say he's not a fan of ferris wheels!) At first, Tuck was terrified of Jenny too, but after an unplanned tag-along on a meteor-blasting mission he's become her biggest fan. Well, next to Brad. Despite his fears, Tuck insists on going along on Jenny and Brad's adventures. Though being the typical trouble-making little brother he is, he usually ends up doing more damage than good. Mrs. Norene "Nora" Wakeman - Mrs. Wakeman had been struggling for years to rid the world of evil through the use of her inventions. And then, in a moment of brilliance, she created: XJ9 (a.k.a. Jenny). More mad scientist than understanding mom, Mrs. Wakeman can teach Jenny to battle almost anything that comes her way, but she's not so hot at talking about teenage stuff like clothes and boys. Mrs. Wakeman just doesn't get why Jenny would rather go to the fair than defend the Earth. But isn't having a mom who doesn't understand you, like, Rule #1 for being a teenager? Brittany and Tiffany Crust - Brit and Tiff sit securely on the top of the social hierarchy at school. Brit is the master of the putdown, and Tiff can intimidate anyone in school. All the world domination-plotting super-villians on the planet don't even come close to wielding the power these two cliqueish cousins hold in their hands, and no one is more aware of that than Jenny. But Jenny's arrival on the scene throws this tyranical twosome for a loop. Her physical power makes Tiff's intimidation impossible, and the curiosity she generates threatens Brit's center-of-attention status. Suddenly, Jenny is Brit and Tiff's public enemy number one! Unfortunately, the one thing Jenny's superpowers can't stop is her own desire to be popular! Sheldon Lee - Even though he knows he's pretty low down on the totem-poll of popularity, Sheldon is satisfied as a budding engineer and a comic book fan. And if that makes him a geek, so be it! He's quite content to spend his time perfecting mechanical projects and pouring over comics. Until he meets Jenny, that is. Jenny's the perfect combination of superhero and suped-up machine, and Sheldon falls for her-fast! He's constantly giving her gizmos and gadgets as gifts, but they never seem to do the trick. Alas, unfortunately for Sheldon, Jenny's fine with being his friend, but the thought of dating him hurts her brainwaves.moreless

In 2065, former astronaut and millionaire Jeff Tracy forms an secret organization named International Rescue. Its mission is to intervene when human life is at threat and nobody else is able to help. They're based on a small tropical island in the Pacific. While it appears to all the world as a reclusive millionaire's retreat, complete with luxurious hillside house (appropriately in the International Style of architecture) and swimming pool, hidden beneath the house and inside a cliff face are various facilities for the enormous complex where their equipment is built, maintained and stored. The equipment, including the specialized Thunderbird vehicles, is designed and assembled by Brains, a brilliant engineer fiercely loyal to Jeff. Supporting the team is Lady Penelope, a famous society figure who secretly acts as their London operative, assisted by her butler, Parker. The five Thunderbird craft are piloted by each of Jeff's five sons, all named after members of America's Mercury program: - Thunderbird 1, piloted by Scott, named after Scott Carpenter. This ramjet-powered plane is their fastest aircraft, always first on the scene to assess the situation and coordinate the rescue. - Thunderbird 2, piloted by Virgil (after Virgil "Gus" Grissom." A fan favorite, Thunderbird 2 is the heavy lift air transport, responsible for carrying all manner of large and bulky machinery to rescue sites. - Thunderbird 3 is piloted by Alan (after Alan Shepard) or John (after John Glenn,) depending on who is on station in Thunderbird 5. 3 is the spaceship for International Rescue. - Thunderbird 4, piloted by Gordon (after Gordon Cooper), is a mini-submarine usually carried to sites inside Thunderbird 2. - Thunderbird 5 is manned by John and Alan on rotating monthly shifts. It's an orbital space platform where all communications around the world can be monitored and issues alerts to Jeff whenever trouble arises. International Rescue insists on complete secrecy. Their identities aren't known to anyone outside the organization and photography of their equipment is forbidden. Thunderbirds was produced by Gerry Anderson and was the culmination of his Supermarionation process, which used marionette puppets instead of live actors. Originally intended for children, the show still has a devoted fanbase of adult viewers, both in the United Kingdom where it originated and in the United States, where it was syndicated in the 1960s and 70s. The series spawned three theatrical features. Thunderbirds Are Go! and Thunderbird Six were produced soon after the series left the air, although neither met with box office success. In 2004, a live action feature of the same name was made without Anderson's involvement. It drew scathing comments from professional movie reviewers who compared it unfavorably to the original show.moreless

Ever wonder what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the earth? "Surface" is an expansive drama and undersea adventure that centers on the appearance of mysterious sea creatures in the deep ocean -- and tracks the lives of four characters. They are: Laura Daughtery (Lake Bell, "Boston Legal"), the young oceanographer who discovers the secret; Dr. Aleksander Cirko (Rade Sherbedgia, "Snatch"), the government scientist who tries to keep things under wraps; Rich Connelly (Jay R. Ferguson, "Judging Amy"), the Louisiana insurance salesman who loses his brother in a suspicious diving accident; and Miles Barnett (Carter Jenkins, "CSI: New York"), the young boy who brings one of the creatures ashore. The mystery ensnares a spectrum of people, including naval officers in the South Antarctic Sea, a family in North Carolina, scientists from the Oceanographic Institute in Monterey, and fishermen in the Gulf of Mexico. The seemingly innocent creatures they find are beautiful, and kids may even want to play with them -- but is there something more to them? One thing's for sure – they're full of surprises as viewers embark on this journey to discover what might be lurking in the sea. "'Surface' is entertainment for all ages in the tradition of 'E.T.' and 'Close Encounters,'" said Josh and Jonas Pate, the series' creators and executive producers. "It will have action, suspense, thrills and heart as we track the fantastic into the familiar." The Pates continued: "We'll follow the teenager as he raises the sea monster in a suburban garage. We'll admire the young dedicated oceanographer as she takes unbelievable risks to get to the bottom of the mystery. We'll feel the grief and obsession of the every-man from Louisiana, and answer the questions surrounding the mysterious Dr. Cirko. This series will plumb the depths of suspense." "Something is down there." "Surface" is from NBC Universal Television Studio and was created by Josh and Jonas Pate ("Dragnet"), who also serve as executive producers. NOTE: The original title of the series was Fathom but was changed after it came to light that the rights to the name were owned by another company.moreless

It is a time when, even if nets were to guide all consciousness that had been converted to photons and electrons toward coalescing, standalone individuals have not yet been converted into data to the extent that they can form unique components of a larger complex. Based on the manga by Shirō Masamune and made popular world-wide by Mamoru Oshii's 1995 cyberpunk classic, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex adds more to the rich, philosophical tale of the fusion between man and machine. The year is 2030 and man and machine are fast becoming fully integrated. Advancements in computer technology that can be melded into both body and mind have become readily available. Criminal acts have entered a new era as well. Exploiting the very systems meant to advance society for the better, criminals have created new ways to get what they desire. Cyberbrains, now very commonplace within society, allow for the abuse of people's minds through hacking. Along with body enhancements come androids that allow for criminals to work their machinations from behind the scenes. As new and more serious forms of crime escalate, more advanced police units are needed to handle these emerging threats. That is why Public Security Section 9, a special task force made up of both flesh and blood humans and mechanical cyborgs, has been assembled. Equipped with the latest technology and advance multipedal tanks called Tachikomas, Section 9 handles high crimes committed against the Japanese people. Each member has their own strong points that come in handy during each mission, but when dealing with such highly advanced criminals, strong points are second only to cold, hard skill. However, SAC takes place in an alternate universe. Thus, the events of the movie never take place in the world of SAC. A Note about the Episodes For Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - 1st GIG, the SA/C nomenclature denotes SA as 'Stand Alone' and C as 'Complex'. 'Stand Alone' episodes deal with various cases that Section 9 handles. 'Complex' episodes cover one major case that Section 9 investigates throughout the first season. For Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - 2nd GIG the IN/DI/DU nomenclature denotes IN as 'INdividual' episodes, DI as 'DIvidual' episodes, and DU as 'DUal' episodes. Welcome To the Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks Guide!

Piggley Winks is a PBS kids show about an Irish pig,Piggley, and his friends: Dannan , and Ferny. Piggley lived with his mom and dad and sister together on Raloo Farm. Piggley has a lot of adventures with his friends in each episode.

Each episode opens with Grandpa Piggley, an Irish pig now living in North America, telling stories to some or all of his three grandchildren. His childhood stories are set in 1930s Ireland and surround young Piggley, Dannan the duck, and Ferny the cow, son of a Spanish-born blacksmith.

Despite the spectacular animation (best examples: water reflections and sunsets), like all other PBS Kids shows, Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks also relies on live-action shots. Hosting these "Live & Learn" scenes (and we will let you pronounce "Live" either way) is Cobi Jones (note spelling), a star of the L.A. Galaxy soccer team.

Like all PBS Kids shows, Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks airs on a piecemeal basis. Not all PBS affiliates run the series, and some have never heard of it. But it enjoys a regular run on PBS Kids Channel, daily at 3:30 P.M. ET with a repeat at 10:30 P.M.

The catch is, I can only go back 7 days. 7 Days chronicles the adventures of Frank Parker, a "chrononaut" assigned to the U.S. government's "Operation Backstep." The operation revolves around the Sphere, created by Dr.'s Mentnor, Vukavitch, and Ballard from alien technology salvaged from Roswell. The alien power source allows a jump of only seven days, so when a crisis occurs the government assigns NSA agent Frank Parker to jump back in time up to 7 days to prevent it, creating a new timeline where only Frank remembers the old one. Frank is uniquely qualified for the job - he has a high tolerance for pain (required during piloting), a photographic memory, and has had some psychiatric problems that give him a very...flexible mindset when dealing with altered timelines. Assisting him on his missions are project head Bradley Talmadge, head of security Nathan Ramsey, and military advisor and back-up chrononaut Craig Donovan.
