It will give them courage, pride, honor and more in their life. For nearly the last decade this delightful show has entertained children of all ages including their parents. This animated series is based on the popular children's books illustrated by Maurice Sendak and written by Else Holmelund Minarik. Little Bear is about the spirited adventures of a curious young cub and his animal friends. Written from a child's point of view, the series celebrates the playful and sometimes enchanted aspects of the everyday activities and important moments in a pre-schooler's life. Though often rooted in the everyday, other stories are based on elements of Little Bear's imagination. At times, Little Bear may be seen flying, or even exploring the moon. Each episode consists of 3 seven-and-a-half minute stories. Each story follows an adventure, a game or an act of imagination in Little Bear's day. Little Bear once aired on Nick Jr. in the United States. You can now catch it twice daily on Noggin. (ended 1992)
Based on one of the most beloved toylines of the 1980's, My Little Pony started out as a couple of animated specials and a feature film before finally becoming a cartoon series. Its various incarnations told the adventures of the little ponies and all of their friends as they lived in the beautiful Dream Valley. There were literally dozens of ponies of all different colors and they were divided into Earth ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasus ponies. All were fundamentally magical beings and each had a small picture on her back that reflected her name or personality. The ponies' most cherished friend is Megan, a young girl of about 13 who was brought to Ponyland to help them in their darkest hour. She continued to visit her friends and often served as leader when trouble struck. Eventually, her younger brother Danny (probably 11) and sister Molly (around 9) met the ponies, and the three of them came to stay in Ponyland for extended visits. There were many different beings who lived in Ponyland besides the ponies. Those who were seen most frequently were Spike (a baby dragon), the Moochick (an absent-minded magician), the Bushwoolies (multicolored fur balls who all seemed to act as one) and the Grundles (friendly troll creatures who tunneled underground). They were always willing to lend a hand when a lesson needed to be learned or villains threatened Dream Valley. The show featured original songs and lessons about teamwork, love, kindness, and bravery. The stories began as 15-minute episodes, but eventually they were expanded into multi-part 15-minute episodes. These were shown alongside other cartoons in a half-hour block titled "My Little Pony and Friends" which included The Moon Dreamers and The Potato Head Kids before being given their own half-hour time slot. In 1992 the Disney Channel would create a new series featuring brand-new ponies with a more preteen spin on the storylines called My Little Pony Tales, which is featured in this guide as Season 3. The Disney Channel would continue to show these episodes for many years in syndication.moreless

    Toon Disney (ended 1999)
This cartoon series is based on the popular Lion King movie. The sidekicks of the movie, a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumbaa are the main characters of the series. Although the movie's main character, Simba makes some appearances. Main Characters TIMON is the fast-talking meerkat, the supposed "brain of the outfit", though often it seems that Pumbaa's general knowledge actually overshadows his. Timon is still the one to come up with the wittiest and craziest ideas to get them out of (or into) trouble. PUMBAA is the smelly, yet kind warthog who's always ready to help his friends. While Timon is often ready to break the rules to get what he wants, Pumbaa is usually honest and innocent in his intentions. QUINT is the main villain. He has appeared under dozens of aliases such as Congo Quint, Criminal Quint and Corteous Quint. SPEEDY THE SNAIL is a, well, snail. At first Timon and Pumbaa wanted to eat him, but when he started talking and singing, they just couldn't do it. Speedy gets into a lot of trouble for a snail, either he's about to be cooked alive by a French chef or somebody wants to make an earring out of him, and Timon and Pumbaa always have to rescue him. Recurring Characters Princess Tatiana only appeared in one episode, but she is a vital part of Timon's past, since he almost married her. The Natives seem to pop up in tropical places every now and then. In fact they are not really natives, just a bunch of college kids who like to spend their free time dressing up as natives. The Vulture Police are two "jungle police" vultures that always finish each others' sentences and talk very fast. Toucan Dan might seem nice, but he is a big liar and he can make you believe anything he says. He's prosecuted by the Vulture Police, and usually gets someone blamed for his misdeeds. Boss Beaver has the total opposite motto of Timon and Pumbaa, "Makuta Hamaka", which according to him means "work hard". Rabbit is a magical pink hare that Timon once pulled out of a hat. He appears in a few episodes and he always means trouble for the duo. Irwin the Penguin is a very unlucky penguin with a very annoying voice who causes problems for everyone around him, especially Timon, which is why Timon can't stand him. The Hyenas are the three dumb hyenas that we already met in the movie. Banzai, Shenzi and Ed, appear on the show sometimes even in their own segment. Simba from The Lion King makes an appearance a couple of times. Rafiki is another familiar character from the movie. He appears in his own episodes sometimes, and sometimes gives Timon and Pumbaa advice. Fred is Timon's old friend from his meerkat colony. He loves to pull practical jokes on people. Timon & Pumbaa is currently airing on Toon Disney, check your local listings! "Superman" was an animated series that premiered on September 6, 1996. Created to follow the success of "Batman: The Animated Series," and based on the popular Superman comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the cartoon series focused on the adventures of Superman, an incredibly powerful crime fighter from the planet Krypton, who defends Metropolis from a variety of supercriminals that include Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Metallo, The Parasite, Livewire, The Toyman, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bizarro, Darkseid, Lobo, Jax-Ur, and Mala. Superman's secret identity is that of Clark Kent, a mild-mannered reporter for the newspaper "The Daily Planet". There he worked with fellow reporter Lois Lane and photographer Jimmy Olsen.

The series opened with an hour and a half long special that featured the exploits of Superman's Kryptonian father, Jor-El, who was attempting to save their planet from a world-wide catastrophe which the planet's artificial intelligence system, Brainiac, was trying to cover up, and continued through Superman's first public appearance in Metropolis. In later seasons, the show featured guest appearances by a variety of other famous comic book heroes including Supergirl, Batman, Robin, The Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, Dr. Fate, Steel, and The New Gods. In 1997, episodes of "Superman" were broadcast alongside episodes of "The New Batman Adventures" and reruns of "Batman: the Animated Series" under the title "The New Batman/Superman Adventures".moreless

The Little Mermaid is probably one of Disney's greatest shows. In 1989 The Little Mermaid movie came out, and it was selling great on the 1st week. Then in 1992 disney decided to make a series out of The Little Mermaid. They wanted to show fans what life was like for Ariel before the movie. The show was a big sucess and had 3 seasons. Finally by the year 2000 disney gave The Little Mermaid a sequel called The Little Mermaid 2: Return To The Sea. The movie finale revolved around Ariel's daughter who can't go into the sea because of the threat that Ursula's sister Morgana posesses. In the end peace was finally restored to Ariel's family, and now she and her daughter can live out their lives on the land and sea.

    Characters

Ariel is King Triton's 7th and youngest daughter. She dreams of being part of the human world and collects things from the land. She has adventures with her friends Urchin, Sebastian, Flounder, and Gabriella.

Urchin is one of Ariel's childhood friends. He used to be a poor thief and stole from the palace but Ariel and Flounder dealt with him and after the whole thing was resolved they soon became fast friends. Urchin soon developed a crush on Ariel and never wanted her to leave the sea, but they both decided to stay friends.

Gabriella is another one of Ariel's childhood friends. She is deaf and has an octopus friend named Alan who translated her sign language. She dreams to someone day be able to speak and express herself like Ariel does whenever she sings.

King Triton is the King of the ocean. He had 7 children with his wife but she unfortunately died. He promised her that he'd raise the 7 girls properly. Out of all 7 of his daughters he pays the most attention to his youngest daughter, Ariel. Triton hates humans and forbids everyone to stay away from them but Ariel is the most stubborn and she breaks this rule most often.

Pearl is Ariel's wildcat cousin. She's a party girl and always tries to get Ariel and her other cousins to party along with her. Pearl's parents are never responsible or protective of her. One day Triton straightens them out and Pearl calms down a bit but still remains a ton of fun.

Arista, Alana, Aquata, Andrina, Adella, and Attina are Ariel's elder sisters, content to live a normal life under the sea, though they sometimes get involved in Ariel's adventures.

The Crab Scouts are 3 little crabs that are crab scouts. Sebastian is their leader and they follow his every order to grow up to be good crabs like Sebastian.

Flounder is Ariel's best friend. He's a bit of a scaredy-cat but he still comes along on Ariel's adventures and they always have a good time, though if something goes wrong it usually happens to poor Flounder.

Sebastian is King Triton's royal assistant. He helps Triton with whatever he can. He tries to convince Ariel to never go to the land but she disobeys him anyway.

Scuttle is a goofy seagull. When he and Ariel first met she and Flounder were skeptical of him but they learned to trust him. He also knows a lot about human objects and tells Ariel the names of them. He may seem dumb but he always comes through when it matters most.

Manta Ray is an evil manta. Ariel and Flounder accidentally released him from his prison. After that he tried to turn the people of Atlantica against each other but he failed. He tried to make his son evil like him but he likes to be good. He hates this but after almost losing his son he becomes good too.

Little Manta Ray is the evil manta's son. He tried to be evil like his father but failed because he became friends with Ariel. He likes being good but his father hates it but in the end he makes his father realizes the advantages of being good.

The Lobster Mobster Mob are two bad lobster criminals- Lobster Mobster and Da Shrimp. They met Urchin first and tried to make him a criminal to until Ariel straightened Urchin out. They could care less about taking over Triton's kingdom, all they like to do is steal.

Moray Eel is a sleazy eel. He sells fake items to people to make a profit, that usually have bad consequences. His favorite customers are Ariel and her friends.

The Sharkanians are an evil race of sharks. They like to cause chaos to any sea creature who visits their part of the sea.

    A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

    A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

    Follow
    ABC (ended 1991)
For more than a decade, it looked as if this would be the final weekly Scooby Doo series. Following the unsuccessful run of The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, the creators went back to the drawing board and turned the original "Mystery Inc." characters into small children, who now worked under the title of "The Scooby Doo Detective Agency." Gone were the days of a pup named Scrappy-Doo, this series ushered in the age of a pup named Scooby-Doo! Although they would have been this age in the '50s or '60s, the kids were far more like kids of the '80s, with computers, skateboards, and gadgets that were popularized far later. As in the original series, the villains of this series were always bad guys in rubber masks, a concept that they had gotten away from when Scrappy entered the show and the ghosts became real. More cartoonish than the rest of the shows, the characters seemed to nod back to the old Warner Bros. cartoons -- complete with bugging eyes, gaping jaws, and a myriad of hijinks and sound effects that were unlike previous Scooby-Doo entries. One of the biggest running gags dealt with Freddy's nemesis, Red Herring, who was always accused of committing the crime, though he was never the perpetrator (except once). Other gags included Velma's catch-phrase "Jinkies" -- every time she uttered that phrase, it meant she had found a clue. Daphne became far more of a spoiled brat, whose butler, Jenkins, would come to her rescue anytime she called (which was often). Every episode had a chase scene that was underscored with a new song (much like the second season of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, during which time the stars would usually stop for a moment to dance. And episodes always wrapped with someone saying the villain would've gotten away with it if it weren't for "You lousy kids and a Pup Named Scooby-Doo!" It also started Freddie's phrase, "Let's split up gang". The show played for a few years on ABC's Saturday morning schedule and then vanished without a trace until it surfaced several years later on Cartoon Network, where it's had a home ever since. Theme Song Lyrics: (Scooby-Dooby, Scooby-Dooby-Doo! Scooby-Dooby, Scooby-Dooby-Doo!) There's a mystery in town, So call the coolest pup around, Call Scooby, A pup named Scooby-Doo! (Scooby-Doobity-Doo, Scooby-Doo!) Join Shaggy, and the crew, Daphne, Freddie, Velma too! And Scooby! A pup named Scooby-Doo! (Scooby-Doobity-Doo, Scooby-Doo!) When the ghostly ghoul attacks, Scooby eats a Scooby Snack! Scooby-Dooby-Doo! (Jinkies!) (Scooby-Dooby, Scooby-Dooby-Doo! Scooby-Dooby, Scooby-Dooby-Doo!) So come on, it's mystery time, You can help us solve the crime, With Scooby, a pup named Scooby, Scooby, a pup named Scooby-Doo! (Scooby-Doobity-Doo, Scooby-Doo!) Scooby-Doo, where are you? Nickelodeon (ended 1996)
Rocko's Modern Life is the story of a wallaby, born and raised in the sunburned land Down Under, Australia. A few years ago, he left the comfort of his native continent and came to live in the United States (because of a bully named Dingo). Since then, he's managed to pick up an assortment of oddball, but well-meaning, friends including a gluttonous Heffer Wolfe (actually a Steer who was adopted by a family of wolves), a faithful pet pooch named Spunky, and a paranoid hypochondriac turtle named Filbert with a personal philosophy. "Turn the page, wash your hands, turn the page, wash your hands."

Other characters that frequently appeared on the show are The Bigheads (Rocko's irritable next-door neighbors), Dr. Paula Hutchison (an always smiling doctor-of-all-trades and love interest of Filbert), and two slippery characters known as The Chameleon Brothers (Chame and Leon). These folks live in a bizarre district known as O-Town, which is actually under the industrial monopoly of a huge corporation called Conglom-O (their slogan is 'We Own You'). Stephen Hillenberg still found success after Rocko, when he created SpongeBob SquarePants in 1999.

Most of the episodes revolve around Rocko trying to cope with the absurdities and difficulties in modern life and living in a place like O-Town, you can bet there are plenty of those!

Main Characters Rocko: A very "modern" wallaby from Australia who wears a blue shirt with purple triangles. His best friend is Heffer, and his pet dog is named Spunky.

Heffer: A very friendly yellow steer who has green spiked hair and wears blue suspenders with red pants. He loves EATING!

Filburt: All cartoons have a brainiac. In Rocko's Modern Life, it's Filburt. He's a turtle with funky glasses and green pants.

Spunky: A black-spotted, dumb dog. Rocko loves Spunky, so Spunky's life isn't so bad. Loves eating the Bighead's hedges, garbage and bathes in his own spit.

Ed Bighead: Wears a white suit with black tie. Rocko's neighbor and married to Bev Bighead. Works at the Conglom-O which rules the town. He is a strict guy. I sure know I would NOT want to live next to him.

Bev Bighead: Orange hair, green lips, green skinned, just like her husband, Ed. Wears: Pearls like Lisa Simpson's, and a blue and pink shirt. Unlike Ed, she loves Rocko and is very flirtatious.

Scheduled Times: Rocko's Modern Life is airing reruns on Nickelodeon's new channel, Nicktoons TV, at 3:00 P.M. and 3:30 P.M. on weekdays , at 12:00P.M. & 12:30 on Saturday and 6:00 P.M on Sundays. The series won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Film Sound Editing.

Theme Song: La la la la la This is my stop Got to get off I may go *pop* Excuse me (repeat once) I've got to be direct La la la If I'm wrong please correct La la la You're standing on my neck La la la You're standing on my neck (short guitar cord) La la la la la (repeat) Rating: Usually all Daria episodes are rated TVPG-L.moreless
