The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

    ABC (ended 1991)
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was a charming animated series that captured both kids and their parents with all-new outings featuring Pooh and the whole gang in the 100 Acre Wood. The world-famous bear, created by British author, A.A. Milne. He is joined by his young master, Christopher Robin. The ever-bouncy Tigger. The glum donkey, Eeyore. The incurable know-it-all, Rabbit. The always-confused Owl. The squeaky Piglet and the mother and son team of Kanga and Roo. Featuring quality animation along with original songs and scores, this series preserves the touching emotional qualities and "not just for kids" humor of the original Winnie the Pooh books. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was part of what many consider Disney's "Golden Age," meaning the studio had quality writers, characters, theme songs, etc. Some other shows during this time were Gummi Bears, Talespin, Ducktales, and Darkwing Duck Characters Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh is the fun-loving bear. He is very caring and concerned about all of his friends. Pooh is friends with everyone in the Hundred Acre Woods. Some of his very good companions are Christopher Robin and Piglet. Pooh also loves honey. Piglet: Piglet is the small Piglet with big hopes. He believes that even though he isn't very big, he can do what his friends do. When they all go on adventures, Piglet is a little frightened, but he goes anyway because he is a such a good friend and will try to overcome his fears. Rabbit: Rabbit can be a bit serious sometimes. He loves to plant gardens that are always eaten by some crows and accidentally bounced on by Tigger. Rabbit builds scarecrows to get rid of the crows, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. He can give some good advice to his friends. Eeyore: Eeyore is the slow-moving donkey. He tries over and over to build his houses, but someone may bounce or fall on it. Other times the wind blows it down or the weather. He always has his friends to help him rebuild it though. Eeyore also has a tail that is pinned on that happens to fall off occasionally. Tigger: Tigger loves to bounce, he tries to bounce higher each time. His bouncing can break things if it gets a big wild. One of his good friends is Roo, he taught him about bouncing and its fun. Kanga: Kanga is Roo's mother. She is very nice to everyone in the Hundred Acre Woods. Kanga is always helping others, or offering some snacks that she may have baked. Roo: Roo's mother is Kanga. He likes to bounce like Tigger. When his friends come around, he usually comes along with them. He was very happy when he moved to the Hundred Acre Woods. One of his best friends is Tigger. Christopher Robin: Christopher Robin is a very nice, young boy. He likes taking his friends on adventures. When they may have a problem with something, he usually figures it out or helps them. He is very good friends with Pooh. Theme Song Gotta get up, I gotta get goin' I'm gonna see a friend of mine He's round and he's fuzzy I love him because He's just Pooh Bear, Winnie the Pooh Bear Lookin' for fun, chasin' some hunny bees Pooh Bear I know he's out there Rumblee tumblee, climin' a honey tree Fun never ends for us, we're so adventurous Least every now and again And when we're alone and there's nobody home It's nice to be able to count on a friend Like Pooh Bear, Winnie the Pooh Bear Wherever you go, oh won't you take me please Pooh Bear, I gotta be there It's me and it's you Silly old Winnie the Pooh... In 1989, Disney's Gummi Bears, which ran for 4 successful seasons on NBC, moved to ABC and merged with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh with all-new episodes for Saturday mornings. Tiny Toon Adventures

    Tiny Toon Adventures

    FOX (ended 1993)
Tiny Toon Adventures is basically a kid-version of the classic Warner Bros. cartoon stars and their cartoons. This show is hosted by Buster and Babs Bunny (No relation!) and their friends Plucky Duck, an egotistical power crazy duck much like Daffy Duck, and Hamton Pig, a shy, kind-hearted pig with low self-esteem but just like Porky Pig, but is a Neat Freak. The toons are constantly terrorized by Dizzy Devil, a purple version of Taz; Elmyra Duff, a dangerously childish, animal loving freak of nature which makes any animal who comes near her run; and lastly, we have rich kid Montana Max, who goes by the philosophy that rich people never pay and hates everyone and everything. The toons get their vast cartoon smarts from the Acme Looniversity school, with the famous Warner Bros. cartoon stars as teachers. The school also had a rival as well, Perfecto Prep., a school with a reputation of cheating characters. Tiny Toon Adventures was a treasure trove of pop-culture cliches and paid homage to many of the classic Warner Bros. cartoons of yore. Currently not on TV in the U.S.A.moreless

    Atomic Betty

    Atomic Betty

    Cartoon Network (ended 2008)
Atomic Betty is a fast paced animated adventure comedy series that features Betty, a little girl with a big secret. To her friends and family, she's the sweet and brainy girl next door, but when the galaxy beckons, she sheds her humdrum persona and becomes: "Atomic Betty, Galactic Guardian and Defender of the Cosmos!"

But Betty is not alone in defending the galaxy. With her are her faithful crew members, Sparky, the hyper-enthusiastic, hyper-hungry and just plain hyper co-pilot of the Galactic Starcruiser; and robot X-5, a mobile encyclopedia of the universe. There isn't a planet X-5 doesn't know or an alien species whose customs he can't mimic. While Sparky and X-5 are often at odds and squabbling with one another, when push comes to shove, they're just as protective of each other as they are of Betty. Isn't that what good friends are for? Enemy number one on Betty's list is the ultimate super-villain, the Supreme Overlord, Maximus I.Q. Maximus would love nothing better than to visit Atomic Betty's home world and destroy her once and for all! But for some infuriating reason Atomic Betty has been able to keep her secret base a secret, even from him. One day she'll slip, and when she does, he'll destroy Atomic Betty and everything she stands for... BWAHAHA! Always at Maximus' side is his long-suffering assistant, Minimus P.U. ('Portable-Underling'). Minimus has a prominent 'Swivel-Head', essentially one head with two distinct faces that move back and forth allowing Minimus to be both a sycophant and a grumbler at the same time; giving new meaning to the phrase "two-faced".

But back on Earth, nobody suspects a thing - and that's just the way Betty likes it. If her Mom and Dad knew she was out zooming through the cosmos without a license, she'd be grounded for sure! Still, Betty's beginning to have some suspicions about a secret her Granny might be hiding too. Talk about your family secrets! Betty and Granny just might have some catching up to do – that is if the galaxy's villains will pause long enough to let them. - Atomic Betty Press Kit

    Atomic Betty reporting for duty.

    Characters:

Betty - Betty is intelligent, funny, very independent and not afraid to be honest. On Earth, she loves music, using her skateboard, hanging out with her best friend named Noah; or dreaming about the school heartthrob, Dylan. In space, she likes racing her star cruiser and fighting treacherous super-villains. Betty has eclectic interests.

Sparky - Sparky is Atomic Betty's first lieutenant and co-pilot of the Hyper-Galactic Star Cruiser. Sparky is not the brightest alien in the galaxy, but his energy, enthusiasm and loyalty make up for his low IQ. Sparky's bravery is surpassed only by his appetite. There isn't a situation that Sparky cannot eat his way out of.

X-5 - X-5 is a most brilliant robot. He'll tell you everything you need to know about some intergalactic species... and more. As Sparky says, "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. A lot of knowledge is just a pain in the butt." Sparky and X-5 love to hate each other.

Supreme Overload, Maximus I.Q. - Look up the heading "Supreme Evil" in the Galactic Yellow Pages, and you will find a picture of Maximus I.Q. Maximus has one dream: to impose his diabolical rule on every sentient being in the Cosmos. Betty despises Maximus because he is constantly breaking the Galactic Guardian rulebook, while Maximus hates Betty because she's always foiling his plans. As Maximus says, "That girl has no respect for evil geniuses!"

Minimus P.U. ('Portable Underling') - Minimus is Maximus's long-suffering right-hand man. He enjoys his job and is unaware of the almost unbearable levels of abuse inflicted upon him by his boss. Minimus's head has two different faces that can alternate back and forth. This lets Minimus be both evil and ignorant at the same time, giving new meaning to "two-faced."

Betty's Parents - Betty's Mother spends the vast majority of her day raving over her beloved pet cat, Purrsy. This is why she appears to never notice that Betty has just returned from a quest in the Cosmos. Her Father is not much help either; only concentrating with another gizmo he is attempting to sell. Betty is aware that her Mother and Father would have a difficult time dealing with the idea that she was fighting ferocious space creatures.

Noah - Noah is a computer nerd who is kind, funny, and Betty's best friend. In fact, he has a bit of a crush on Betty (not that she has noticed). Noah is always the first to defend Betty or cover for Betty... or carry her novels. Noah's a bit of a doormat.

Penelope - Penelope is the snob/bully. She loves shopping, reading teen mags, and ordering around her two sidekicks, Megan and Sarah. Her family is filthy rich, and she's used to getting her way – even if it means stepping all over other people. (In fact, she gets more of a kick in doing that.)

Dylan - The resident heartthrob, Dylan is good-looking, intelligent and athletic. Penelope is crazy about him! As is Betty... although she is afraid to admit that. Dylan finds himself oddly interested in Betty. The fact that she claims bizarre things and leaves at a moment's notice, only makes Dylan more intrigued.

Admiral DeGill - Admiral DeGill is the Commander in Chief of the Galactic Guardians. He is the one responsible for dispatching heroes to thwart the devilish deeds of evildoers. He is a supporter of Betty's extreme abilities. He is aware that Betty is superior to the others and he should; after all, the Admiral's been alive since Sirius, the Dog Star, was still paper training.

Purrsy - Purrsy is a purebreed Siamese cat. Betty's Mom treats him like he's one of her children. Purrsy is a pampered feline who loves nothing more than seeing Betty in trouble, he usually plays a big role in doing so.

    Theme Song:

Call me up, I'm your girl, The toughest chick in the alien world, Ain't got time for pink and lace, This girl's built for outer space!

Atomic Betty is a fighting girl! Atomic Betty gonna rock your world! Atomic Betty, 'tomic Betty...

    FAQ

What Grade is Ginger in? In Season 1 she is in the 7th Grade, in Season 2 she begins 8th grade, and now in Season 3 Ginger will start 9th Grade in High School.

Why is Ginger only airing like one time a week? Yes, Ginger used to air a lot of times a week, maybe Nick thought it wasn't being well received and decided to move the time further away so fans would start wondering. When will Ginger be in more places? I'm not sure yet, hopefully soon to find out.

I read on Don's ATBG site that each season has 20 episodes worth, why is there missing some episodes in the 3 ATBG Seasons? Nick has decided to air the 3 part episodes as actual 'TV Movies' or 'Specials'. Example: 'Far From Home'-the TV Movie (as listed)- would actually count as 3-part episodes to add to Season 2 or 3. and Same with 'Camp Caprice' and 'The Wedding Frame'.

I'm sick of waiting, when will new episodes air like they used to!? This is Nick's choice, obviously Nick decides after 1-2 seasons to air episodes far apart in order to save some. 'Then why are the Season 1-2 episodes aired close together?' - Probably because Nick wanted to be able to air at least 20-30 episodes without worrying if kids get sick of watching the same episodes over and over. But this is Nick's choice and I'm not going to speak for them.

What city does As Told By Ginger Take place in? The series takes place in the city of Sheltered Shrubs (this is a fictional city)

    Characters

Ginger Ginger is a nervous, yet nice, 12 year old pre-teen. She is sister to Carl who she lives with, and also lives with her Mom. Her Dad wasn't that reliable and obviously left Ginger and her family. Ginger wants popularity and would mostly do ANYTHING for it!

Dodie Dodie is best friend to Ginger. Dodie is a gossip girl and drama queen. Dodie trys to be popular as well, but, it seems Ginger is getting more success then her, tough luck Dodie!

Macie Macie is friends with Dodie and Ginger. Macie may not be the most popular girl in the school, (well actually, she's quite a geek!) but, she is quite a laugh and a good friend to Ginger & Dodie.

Courtney Courtney is the most popular girl at her school. Courtney is obviously rich and thinks up in herself. Though, lately she's took a shine to Ginger. Ginger is Courtney's latest popular experiment.

Miranda Miranda is a nasty pre-teen who just wants popularity and best friendship to carry on with Courtney. Miranda hates Ginger because of Ginger and Courtneys latest friendship. But, who will be the winner?

Carl Carl is brother to Ginger and drives her up the wall, including there Mom! Carl just loves anything thats disgusting and dirty, he is best friend to Hoodsey.

Hoodsey Hoodsey is best friend to Carl and brother to Dodie. You wouldn't think they were brother and sister unless you saw they had the same parents and surname. Anyway... Hoodsey likes being naughty just as much as Carl, but, sometimes his Mom gets in the way.

Lois Lois is a caring Mom to Ginger and Carl. She always has a good joke and is like any other normal Mom.moreless

    Star Trek: The Animated Series

    Star Trek: The Animated Series

    NBC (ended 1974)
This is the further adventures of the Star Trek series in a half-hour animated form. This show basically continues the adventures of the original series (presumably in the fourth year of the five-year mission), but takes advantage of the unlimited special effects provided by animation to introduce more alien crewmen (the felinoid M'Ress and the tripedal Arex) as well as introduce more elaborate adventures like an underwater adventure, the miniaturization of the crew to 1 cm., and the appearance of a giant fire-breathing two-headed dragon. The show is currently not considered "canon" by Paramount and the folks associated with the various subsequent TV shows. However, elements of the animated series have been used in subsequent shows (Sarek refers to the events of "Yesteryear" in TNG's "Reunification Pt. 1") and the Enterprise-D's holodeck seems to have been in part inspired by the holodeck we see in "Practical Joker". Also, writers such as Peter David have used some elements from the animated series in the books and comics. Although produced on the cheap (note the incredibly static backgrounds, recycled animations, and the fact that James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, and Majel Barrett do about 95% of the guest voices), the script writing and concepts (mostly by writers from the original series) are generally of high quality (the show won an Emmy for best Children's Programming in '73) and the show is in many worthy of inclusion in the Trek annals.moreless

    Dinosaur Train

    Dinosaur Train

    PBS
It's a dream come true for all young dino-fans: a CGI-animated series called Dinosaur Train brings the natural sciences, including history and paleontology, to life. Aimed at preschoolers, this new PBS Kids series, co-produced by the Jim Henson Co., includes 40 half-hour episodes featuring live-action and paleontologist Dr. Scott Sampson as well as additional learning resources like an interactive Web site for children and activities for parents and teachers. Dinosaur Train was created by Craig Bartlett (Hey Arnold) and focuses on the adventures of pteranadons Shiny, Tiny and Don as well as their adopted brother, Buddy. Buddy is a curious young dinosaur who is determined to learn his true origins. He likes to make hypotheses (educated, scientific predictions) and is a keen observer of the world around him. To aid him in his quest to learn about his world, his parents often take him on the Dinosaur Train, a fantastical train capable of time-traveling to any period in the Mesozoic Era through devices known as "time tunnels." Dinosaur Train is seen weekdays on most PBSKids stations as part of the PBSKids Preschool Block, featuring Miss Rosa. The program is presented in widescreen, is rated TV-Y with E/I for educational/instructional content and features CGI animation.moreless

Twelve-year-old Ryoma Echizen joins the Seishun Gakuen Middle School tennis team, known for being one of the most competitive teams in Japan. Freshmen rarely have a chance to actually play during their first year, but Ryoma's cool confidence, combined with a deadly, un-returnable "twist serve," gain him a coveted starting spot. With rigorous and extremely intense practices, the upperclassmen of the team expect the very best from themselves, and expect even more from the new members of the team. He's made the cut but can he survive the intense competition? Join Ryoma and other first year players, as they train hard, make friends, and try to find a place for themselves on the team. Ryoma's cute but chronically shy classmate, Sakuno Ryuzaki, also has problems of her own as she hopes he will notice her. Ryoma Echizen is The Prince of Tennis. He may be ready for the Seishun Gakuen tennis team, but are they ready for him?
