American Trucker is the SPEED Channel series which tells true stories about trucks and truck drivers. The series is hosted by Robb Mariani, a Big Rig enthusiast and historian. Growing up driving around the country in the 60's to 80's, Robb's earliest memories were of giant golden era big rigs on the road and at truck stops. He grew up with a passion for model building, making truck models and dreaming of being a trucker when he grew up. He studied graphic design and went into the art world, but never lost his passion for trucks. When the internet became available, Robb's passion for trucks was reignited, and he used the web to search for everything trucks. From trucker films, to truck photos, truck stories, trucker merchandise and anything he could get his hands on in the trucker forums. He got into restoring trucks he saw in movies, searching for old trucks that meant something to him and giving them new life. These trucks had hours and hours of delivering goods to people all over the country, and their stories usually go untold. Now Robb is doing what he can to tell the stories of these trucks and the truckers that drive them. Join in for stories of big rigs and life on the road with Robb in SPEED Channel's series American Trucker.moreless

Lockup Extended Stay is an NBC documentary series produced by 44 Productions that leads viewers into the fascinating and occasionally frightening world of high-security American prisons, revealing the gangs, guards, and unique social customs that make up the world of long-term prisoners. Each episode of this series examines a different aspect of prison life at one of America's over-populated prisons that primarily house convicts sentenced to multiple decades behind bars. Many episodes deal with the prevalence of gang violence and the very specific rules an inmate must follow if he or she wishes to stay out of trouble with the more powerful prisoners. Other episodes deal with other aspects of prison life, including the development of romantic relationships and the psychological and emotional effects that long-term isolation has on the prisoners. Some episodes document the special events put on by the prison to improve the quality of life inside, such as San Quentin's poetry slam. Lockup Extended Stay is an interesting series and a must-see for fans of Lockup and Lockup Raw.moreless

I Married a Mobster is the Investigation Discovery series which tells the stories of women who were married to men involved in organized crime. Mob wives have become a hot topic, from legendary shows like The Sopranos to reality shows like Mob Wives, and now Investigation Discovery is getting in on the action. While the other shows are more like reality-dramas, Investigation Discovery's I Married a Mobster is more of a documentary series. We join women who tell the stories of what life was like with these mobster husbands, and how it changed after they were gone. Lorraine Bracco, star of The Sopranos and Goodfellas is narrating the series, which joins women like Barbara Gama, Cheryl Caruso and more. From Barbara being given money and encouraged to go shopping in exchange for keeping quiet, to Cheryl who was largely clueless about her husband's real life, the show tells real stories of crime, busts and more, avoiding glamorizing the mob life. Tune in to see what happens when women are tied to a life of crime in Investigation Discovery's I Married a Mobster.moreless

Spectacle: Elvis Costello With... fuses the best elements of talk radio and music television, inviting viewers to enjoy rare musical performances and intimate conversations between the award-winning host and his iconic guests - each of whom is an influential figure from the world of music, politics or film. Explaining his approach, Elvis said, "I'm not interested in extracting some dark secret. I'd rather hear about a bright secret, a deep love or a curiosity that might be otherwise obscured by fame. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk in complete thoughts about music, movies, art or even vaudeville - then frame it with unique and illustrative performances." Guest artists, who run the gamut from legendary performers to notable newcomers, demonstrate the development and creation of their music - often by playing new, stripped-down, acoustic, impromptu or solo versions of some of their best and most popular songs. Elvis and The Imposters perform interpretations of songs either by or associated with the featured guests. In addition, the show features extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime musical collaborations. Spectacle airs on the Sundance Channel in the U.S., Channel 4 in the U.K. and CTV & Bravo in Canada. Elsewhere, FremantleMedia distributes the show worldwide. In addition, Season 1 of Spectacle is now available on iTunes and a DVD/Blu-ray box set was released throughout North America on November 17, 2009. The show is recorded before a live audience at Harlem's world famous Apollo Theater in New York City and Toronto's historic Masonic Temple.moreless

What once was just imagination is now real; what was once the distant future is now around the corner. The "Science Fiction" of the past has now simply become "Science". And the science of the future was strangely prophesied by a group of visionaries whose dreams once may have deemed them renegades and "mad scientists," have become reality! In 1950, the term "Robotics" was coined by author Isaac Asimov in his book I.ROBOT and our collective imagination reeled. In the years since, literature, movies and television have allowed us to embrace the notion that the ideas of a few inspired visionaries could be made real. What is more astonishing is that these ideas have been, are currently and will be put to practice in our everyday lives. Each episode of the upcoming series PROPHETS OF SCIENCE FICTION will focus on how the great minds of Science Fiction imagined our future for us, and how some, in turn, made their fantasies real.In a dynamic hyper-stylized way that has never been seen before … we will take a tour of what was, and what will be through the eyes of the visionary authors, illustrators, filmmakers, and scientists who have become the PROPHETS OF SCIENCE FICTION!moreless
