Originally created for Danish television as Riget, Morten Arnfred and Lars von Trier's supernatural thriller The Kingdom chronicles the bizarre occurrences at the title hospital, the largest and most respected hospital in the country. While the series deals with such real-life complications as murder investigations and malpractice suits, a more villainous force may be unleashing itself upon the hospital staff. After a patient (Kirsten Rolffes) sees the ghost of a young girl, many of the staff members find themselves involved in frightening and bizarre situations like an ambulance that appears every evening but then instantly vanishes. Eventually, a female doctor (Birgitte Raaberg) becomes pregnant, but the accelerated development of her fetus could be a sign that the evil forces have found a way to enter more permanently into the world.moreless

Sammo Law is a Chinese law officer and a martial arts expert transferred to America looking for an old nemesis. During the search, Sammo will join the police department and work with a group of detectives on police cases.

The show ran for two years on CBS, and it endured cast revamps, which were probably the main reason why the show ended only after two years.

After only 5 episodes, Tammy Lauren exited the show, and both Louis Mandylor and Tom Wright exited the show after the first season. During the first season, a new character was introduced (played by Arsenio Hall) and was soon made a regular.

People loved the show, because it was a good combination of action, martial arts and comedy, but not enough to keep it going.moreless

How does a deep-cover operative keep his sanity and morality intact when the criminal lifestyle he’s sworn to bring down from within is more compelling than his own? Federal Agent Vincent Terranova (Ken Wahl) is plagued by the question in this innovative take on 80’s cop dramas. Created by veteran hit producer Steven J Cannell, Wiseguy veers from traditional ‘bad guy of the week’ police procedural by breaking the drama into multi-episode story arcs that followed an Organized Crimes Bureau case—and its charismatic criminal suspects—to its logical conclusion. No matter the cost to criminal, victim, or cop. In the end, Vinnie may have got his man, but the emotional toll of the lies and deceptions he used to get close enough to his prey couldn’t be ignored. But he’s ably backed by his Field Supervisor Frank McPike (Jonathan Banks) and his OCB Lifeguard (Jim Byrnes) on the law-and-order side and his brother Father Pete Terranova (Gerald Anthony) on the spiritual side. Plus many up-and-coming stars (Ray Sharkey, Annette Benning, Billy Vera, Kevin Spacey, Fred Dalton Thompson, Ron Silver, Michael Chiklis) cut their teeth on juicy roles as either flashy but flawed criminals or tragic victims of the same. Personal problems and injuries caused Wahl to back out of a fourth season and be replaced by Steven Bauer, thereby giving the show a new slant and hastening its cancellation. Still, Wiseguy is referenced by many critics and fans as one of the most literate, stylish, audacious, and fun cop shows of the late 80’s. Selected story arcs are currently available on DVD.moreless

Heartbreak High is a hip and realistic series about the lives of teenage students, their families and teachers at a high school. Heartbreak High is set in an inner city school at Sydney Beach, Hartley High, within a multi-racial area. Heartbreak High was originally a stage play which producer, Ben Gannon, turned into a successful film The Heartbreak Kid in 1993. The show captured more than 70 per cent of the youth audience in its first five weeks of broadcast in Australia. Heartbreak High originally began broadcast on Australia's Channel 10, highly viewed as a more Youth Oriented network compared to the other "Commercial" Networks, Seven & Nine. After the 1996 season, the series became a very rare example of an Australian Soap being bought by another network and new episodes commissioned, this time on the government-owned ABC Network (The most famous example is Neighbours moving from Seven to Ten in 1985 which then became a ratings bonanza during its late 80's Kylie & Jason Heydays). They only made a few changes (The show had already made a number of changes to the cast, truly reflecting a real school environment where the students and staff all evolve, thus making it less jarring than it normally would be), but the most notable was shortening the episodes to 25mins each - including re-editing Channel 10's original, slightly more adult content-filled scenes, into 2x20min episodes. It quickly became a cult institution for schoolkids & teenagers across Australia at teatime, when Mon-Thurs @ 6pm, everyone tuned in to see what would happen next (due to there being no available spoilers). The show ultimately wrapped up (due to funding issues) at the peak of its popularity and is extremely missed, but is shown worldwide still even to this day where its popular in places as far out as Egypt. Heartbreak High is currently Screening in edited 20-25min Episodes on ABC3 in Australia @ 8pm EDST from the very beginning.moreless

Molly Dodd is a 30-something, creative woman who makes interesting career choices and struggles with complex relationships with men and with her family. Molly's best friend, Nina Shapiro, also makes appearances here and there. Each episode begins with someone close to Molly commenting on some facet of her personality or her life. Elements of magical realism run throughout the series, for instance, when Molly communicates with the ghost of a relative (to tell who would be a spoiler). Molly has trouble saying "no" to people, like her mysterious cousin Mike from Baltimore who moves in with her and stays longer than he's welcome. Molly eventually seeks therapy but is turned away by her therapist when she falls in love with Molly. Some of the most notable men in Molly's life are her father; her ex-husband Fred, a sax player who keeps returning to toy with her emotions; Davey, the elevator man in her apartment building; Moss Goodman, the owner of a bookstore, who is seriously socially handicapped but charming as all get out (on right in the photo); and Nate Hawthorne, a literate cop with severe allergies (on left in the photo). The show's creator, Jay Tarses, makes occasional appearances as Molly's garbage man, Nick. After the second season, the show moved from NBC to Lifetime.moreless

Welcome to The Hitchhiker guide at TV.com. A series of mystery-thriller stories, linked only by the character of The Hitchhiker, who would introduce and close each episode in the style of Rod Serling or Alfred Hitchcock. Occasionally stories involved supernatural forces, but most plot twists stemmed only from the dark side of the human spirit. One of the few Canadian shows to come out of HBO, the series re-airs in Canada on the SCREAM network and can occasionally be seen on HBO. There is considerable confusion over how many seasons were in the series, but the creators have released the first and third season on DVD, so the episode guide is arranged accordingly. Originally the Hitchhiker was cast with Nicholas Campbell, but for whatever reason Campbell was replaced with Page Fletcher. Campbell's scenes in the original three episodes were later re-shot with Fletcher which, because the Hitchhiker initially had more interaction with the people in the stories, cause certain scenes to appear very choppy.moreless

Loving, a soap opera created by Agnes Nixon & Douglas Marland in 1983, aired for 12 long years on ABC, but never was a success on daytime. The show premiered as a TV movie on primetime, and during it's early years, it centered around the blue-collar Donovans and the blue-blood Aldens. The stories revolved around alcoholism, post-traumatic stress syndrome, murders, and all storylines known to the world of soap operas.

In 1995, ABC no longer wanted to keep Loving on it's schedule. The ratings kept falling. Yet, ABC didn't want to just make it disappear, so they asked the head writers to write a storyline which could allow some of the character to return in a spin-off called "The City." The show's last storyline about a serial murderer was one of the best of the show. The show ended on November 10, 1983 with 3,169 episodes.moreless

Guns Of Paradise is the sequel series of the 1988-90 television western, Paradise.
Paradise centered around grizzled gunfighter Ethan Allan Cord, who assumed custody of his late sister's four orphaned children. Ethan's sister, Lucy Cord Carroll, died in St. Louis in the 1890s and her children traveled to the West Coast to live with their uncle in Paradise, California.
Cord attempted to change his life by becoming a rancher and raising the children in a converted farmhouse he rented from the town banker. The oldest of the children, and only girl, was 13-year-old Claire Carroll, who shared some of Ethan's supervisory duties, especially while he was away. Her brothers were Joseph, 11; Ben, 9; and George, 5.
Despite attempting to settle down with his new brood, Ethan was often hired on odd jobs which utilized his gunfighting skills. Amelia Lawson, the banker from whom Ethan rented the farmhouse, became his romantic occupation. Ethan's best friend, Native American John Taylor, had a knack for being in the right spot at the right time, usually to help Ethan out of a jam.
Guns Of Paradise finds Ethan giving up on farming and taking the position of town Marshall, sometimes to the chagrin of the citizens and always a negative to outlaws.moreless
